GAME NOTES: Mid-American Conference action will take place this evening, when the Bowling Green Falcons host the Northern Illinois Huskies at Anderson Arena.
The Huskies are in desperate need of a victory, as the team has dropped its last six matchups. The last time Northern Illinois was on the floor the team suffered a 74-69 setback to Miami-Ohio, falling to 4-6 in conference play.
As for the Falcons, they have dropped their past two contests, including a heartbreaking, 65-64 setback to Western Michigan. The loss to the Broncos dropped Bowling Green to a lackluster 4-6 in MAC play.
The series between Northern Illinois and Bowling Green is currently tied at 25 games apiece.
The Huskies have been inconsistent at the offensive end of the court, as the team is netting just 67.5 ppg, behind a pedestrian 40.6 percent shooting effort. Xavier Silas is pacing the team with 19.5 ppg, and has also grabbed 5.1 rpg. Darion Anderson has done a little of everything for Northern Illinois, as the guard is posting 11.3 ppg, to go along with team-highs in rebounds (6.8 rpg) and assists (78). The last time NIU was on the floor the team put forth another lackluster effort, as the team shot just 38.8 percent in a loss to Miami-Ohio. Anderson led the way with 16 points, and also tallied seven rebounds and four assists. Silas added 13 points in the loss, while Lee Fisher contributed 11 points and eight rebounds.
The Falcons have also struggled offensively, as the team comes into this matchup averaging just 61.0 ppg. Scott Thomas is currently leading the team with 11.9 ppg, and is also posting 6.1 rpg and 58 assists. Dee Brown is the only other player netting double figures for BGSU, as the guard is contributing 10.7 ppg. The last time Bowling Green was on the floor the team shot 50.0 percent, but finished on the wrong end of a 65-64 setback to Western Michigan. Thomas led the way with 14 points and six rebounds, while Otis Polk also tallied 14 points. As for Brown, he finished with 13 points in the loss.
The Falcons have struggled offensively, but considering how poorly NIU has been at the defensive end of the court, look for Bowling Green to produce enough offensively to grab a win.
