Samford (9-15) at Chattanooga (13-12)

GAME NOTES: The Samford Bulldogs wrap up a three-game road trip tonight, as they square off against the Chattanooga Mocs in Southern Conference play at McKenzie Arena.

The Bulldogs have dropped the first two games of their current road swing and that includes a 75-54 whipping at the College of Charleston on Saturday. It marked the fifth consecutive loss for Samford, which fell to 9-15 overall and 3-9 in conference action.

As for the Mocs, they are returning from a three-game road trip that saw the squad lose at the College of Charleston (86-74) on Thursday and at The Citadel (68-60) on Saturday. Now at 13-12 overall, Chattanooga returns back home, where it has gone a solid 10-3.

Chattanooga leads the all-time series with Samford, 45-32, and the Mocs swept all three meetings with the Bulldogs last season.

Three-point shooting decided the outcome on Saturday, as Samford went only 5- of-24 from downtown compared to an 18-of-42 effort by the CofC in a 75-54 decision. The Bulldogs were also dominated on the boards, 47-31, including a 16-6 difference on the offensive glass. Trey Montgomery did most of the damage for Samford, as he poured in 23 points. Josh Davis was held to just six points and three assists, but he still remains the team's leading scorer with an average of 12.5 ppg. Montgomery follows with 10.6 ppg and he also grabs 4.0 rpg, while Bryan Friday chips in with 10.4 ppg.

Chattanooga went only 8-of-35 from beyond the arc and just 10-of-20 at the foul line, as it was downed by The Citadel over the weekend. The team didn't have any better luck from the field overall, hitting on just 35.6 percent of its attempts. Ty Patterson guided the Mocs in the loss with 19 points and six boards, while Ridge McKeither notched a double-double with 13 points and 18 boards. On the season, Patterson averages a team-high 15.6 ppg, to go with 5.1 rpg and 2.3 apg. Ricky Taylor follows at 10.9 ppg despite shooting only 38.1 percent from the floor.

The Mocs have had good success at home and should be able to outlast the slumping Bulldogs in this one.
