GAME NOTES: The East Carolina Pirates welcome the Tulane Green Wave to Greenville tonight for a Conference USA affair at Minges Coliseum.
The Pirates enter the matchup looking to rebound from an embarrassing performance, as they were crushed, 100-49, by Marshall on Saturday. It was the team's third loss in a row since picking up its lone conference victory over Tulane on January 24th. ECU is now just 1-8 within the conference and that includes an 0-4 mark at home.
As for the Green Wave, it too is coming off a loss, falling 66-48 to SMU on Saturday. The defeat was the fifth in six games for Tulane, which dipped to 7-15 overall and 2-7 in league play.
Tulane leads the head-to-head series with ECU, 7-3, despite dropping the first meeting of the season.
The Green Wave shot a miserable 30.6 percent from the floor, including a poor 6-of-23 showing from long range, as it was handled by SMU over the weekend. Following missed shots was also a struggle for Tulane, which was dominated on the boards, 41-17. Kendall Timmons was the only player to reach double figures for Tulane, finishing with 14 points. Kris Richard was limited to just five points, but he still remains the team's top scorer for the season at 13.2 ppg. Overall, Tulane is managing only 63.0 ppg while shooting a sub par 39.5 percent from the field.
In a simply dismal performance, the Pirates made only 25.0 percent of their field goals and just 1-of-14 long-range attempts in a 51-point loss to Marshall over the weekend. ECU also turned the ball over 22 times and had just four assists as a team. Darrius Morrow and Brock Young each netted 11 points to lead the Pirates in the setback. Young leads ECU on the season in scoring at 14.5 ppg and he is also dishing out a team-high 5.8 apg. Morrow turns in 12.8 ppg, to go with a team-best 6.8 rpg, and Jamar Abrams contributes 11.0 ppg and 5.1 rpg.
The Pirates were thoroughly outplayed last game, but expect them to come back with a solid effort and top Tulane for the second time this season.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
