Eastern Kentucky (17-8) at Southeast Missouri State (7-17)

GAME NOTES: The Colonels will try to remain in the win column this evening when the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks host Eastern Kentucky this evening at the Show Me Center.

The Colonels posted their third consecutive win the last time they were on the floor, as they defeated Jacksonville State, 66-65. With the victory over the Gamecocks the Colonels pushed their conference mark to 9-4 on the season.

The last time out, SEMO suffered a 73-70 setback to Tennessee-Martin. It was the second straight loss for SEMO, and the fifth in the last five games for the team. With the recent losing skid the Redhawks have fallen to 3-10 in league play.

The Colonels own a 19-17 edge over SEMO in the all-time series, and have won four straight matchups against the Redhawks, including a 79-63 decision earlier this season.

The Colonels have relied on a trio of players this season, beginning with Justin Stommes, who is posting 15.0 ppg, to go along with a team-best 86 assists. Josh Taylor is contributing 13.0 ppg on the season, while Papa Oppong is helping out with 12.0 ppg. The last time the team was in action the Colonels shot 46.0 percent from the floor, en route to a slim victory over Jacksonville State. Oppong led the way in the win with 20 points, while Stommes tallied 16 points. As for Jones, he finished with 12 points on a 4- of-9 showing from the floor.

Producing at the offensive end of the floor has been a major issue for Southeast Missouri State, as the Redhawks are posting just 65.0 ppg, behind a mediocre 42.4 percent shooting effort. Anthony Allison is the only player netting double figures on the season, as the guard is posting 10.4 ppg. The last time the Redhawks were on the court, the team scored 70 points, but still fell to Tennessee-Martin by a three-point margin. SEMO shot 43.3 percent from the floor and also connected on 10-of-18 attempts from long range, but finished the game with 16 turnovers. Allison led the way with 18 points, while Marland Smith tallied 17 points.

The Colonels dominated the Redhawks earlier this season and even though this game is at the Show Me Center, Eastern Kentucky should complete the sweep.
