Murray State (22-3) at Tennessee Tech (12-12)

GAME NOTES: Back in action tonight after their Tuesday night matchup was postponed due to inclement weather, the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles are now set to face off against the Murray State Racers in an Ohio Valley Conference battle at the Eblen Center.

The Golden Eagles, who had their meeting with Austin Peay on Tuesday night postponed because of heavy precipitation and freezing weather, suffered their second straight loss on Saturday when they bowed at Morehead State in an 84-75 final. The defeat makes the team an even 12-12 overall and a game under .500 versus OVC opponents at 6-7.

As for the Racers, they are considered one of the hottest teams in college basketball at the moment with 13 straight victories and 15 in a row at home, thanks to a narrow 65-63 decision over Austin Peay last Saturday. The Racers now need just three more victories in this current streak to tie the school's all-time record of 16 in a row set twice during the 1930s.

In terms of Ohio Valley Conference wins, the undefeated squad has now run off 20 straight dating back to last season.

With respect to the all-time series between these two schools on the hardwood, the Racers hold a commanding 116-46 edge. MSU won the most recent meeting last month at home by a score of 88-66.

A jumper at the buzzer by Isacc Miles proved to be the difference as the Racers picked up the two-point home win against Austin Peay over the weekend. Murray State trailed by three points at the break, partly because it missed all 10 three-point tries in the opening period, before converting 6-of-13 out on the perimeter after intermission. Danero Thomas scored 23 points, followed by Tony Easley and B.J. Jenkins with 12 and 10 points, respectively. One of the most balanced scoring attacks in all of college basketball, the Racers have a total of six players averaging at least 10 ppg, but not one of them more than 11.0 ppg at the moment. Ivan Aska is at the top of the list with his 10.6 ppg, thanks to his 60.3 percent accuracy from the floor, while Jenkins and Thomas account for 10.4 and 10.3 ppg, respectively. Jenkins, a 36.2 percent shooter beyond the arc, has also delivered on 91 assists and has 55 steals, both of which pace a program that has outscored opponents thus far by more than 18 ppg.

On his way to being named the OVC Freshman of the Week for the third time this season, Jud Dillard erupted for 25 points and 12 rebounds, both of which paced the Golden Eagles in their loss to Morehead State over the weekend. Dillard shot 9-of-12 from the floor and added a pair of assists and steals, but was also tabbed for five turnovers in the setback. Frank Davis chipped in 21 points off the bench as he sank an amazing 7-of-9 beyond the arc, while Kevin Murphy added 16 points before fouling out. Murphy stands as the top scorer for the program through 24 games with his 15.3 ppg and has managed to raise his accuracy from the floor in conference outings to almost 50 percent, while also converting 41.7 percent of his three-point tries. Davis (14.6 ppg), as he showed over the weekend, can be dead on from three-point range and is currently one of the best in the nation at a staggering 47.9 percent on 146 attempts. As a unit, Tennessee Tech has converted 41.6 percent beyond the arc on the year and 48.2 percent from the floor, numbers that both increase against OVC competition.

Getting extra time to prepare for this meeting will probably do the Golden Eagles no good, seeing as how strong Murray State is from top to bottom.
