GAME NOTES: Sun Belt Conference play will take place this evening in Boca Raton, when the Florida Atlantic Owls host the UL-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns at FAU Arena.
The Cajuns roll into this matchup with a three-game winning streak. The last time the team was on the floor the Cajuns grabbed a 77-51 decision over Arkansas-Little Rock. With the win over the Trojans, the Cajuns pushed their league mark to 8-4 on the year.
The Owls have dropped two straight games coming into this matchup. The most recent loss was a 73-63 setback to Denver, which dropped the team to 8-5 in Sun Belt play. The majority of the team's success has come at home where the Owls are 8-2 on the season.
The Cajuns evened the all-time series at two games apiece with an 81-74 victory over Florida Atlantic earlier this season.
The last time the Cajuns took the floor the team exploded offensively, netting 77 points behind a 50.9 percent shooting effort. Tyren Johnson was sensational in the win, posting a double-double of 30 points and 11 rebounds. Randell Daigle added 15 points and five assists, while Chris Gradnigo tallied 11 points. Johnson has been the top option on the floor for ULL, as the forward is leading the team with 17.2 ppg and 8.6 rpg. Gradnigo is contributing 14.5 ppg, while Daigle is netting 11.3 ppg for ULL, which as a whole is producing 69.5 ppg.
The Owls posted just 63 points the last time they were on the floor, en route to a loss to Denver. Florida Atlantic shot 46.5 percent from the floor, but finished just 4-of-13 from behind the arc. Raymond Taylor led the way in the loss with 20 points, while Alex Tucker and Brett Royster posted 13 and 11 points, respectively. The most consistent option throughout the season for FAU has been Greg Ganntt, who comes into this game netting 15.5 ppg. Taylor is contributing 14.5 ppg, and has also dished out a team-best 148 assists for FAU, which is producing a respectable 74.7 ppg this season.
The Owls have been dangerous offensively, and if the team can get it done again, look for FAU to snap out of its small funk with a nice win over the Cajuns.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
