Green Bay (16-9) at Detroit (15-10)

GAME NOTES: The Green Bay Phoenix and the Detroit Titans will meet in the Motor City this evening for what should be an entertaining Horizon League battle.

Green Bay carried a two-game losing streak into last Saturday's meeting with in-state rival Milwaukee, but that tilt resulted in a 61-54 victory. The win enabled the Phoenix to improve to 16-9 overall and 8-5 in conference.

As for Detroit, it halted a two-game slide of its own with a 92-72 win over Chicago State on Monday. That non-conference win enabled the Titans to move to 15-10 overall, and they carry a 7-6 Horizon League record into tonight's affair. Of the 13 home games that Detroit has played thus far, 10 have resulted in victories.

Green Bay edged Detroit by a 74-72 final in the first meeting between the two teams this season, cutting the Titans' lead in the all-time series to 19-18.

The Phoenix are racking up 68.8 ppg while limiting opponents to 67.4 ppg. Rahmon Fletcher is the leading scorer for Green Bay with 16.2 ppg, and he has dished out 64 assists. Bryquis Perine checks in with 13.4 ppg and 98 assists, while Troy Cotton adds 12.4 ppg. Fletcher and Matt Smith both scored 13 points for Green Bay in the victory over Milwaukee last weekend, and the Phoenix clearly benefited from a 15-4 edge in points from the foul line. They also forced 15 turnovers in the tilt, five more than they committed, and all of the positives helped the squad overcome its shaky 35.1 percent shooting from the field. Randy Berry had a double-double consisting of 10 points and 13 rebounds in the victory.

Chase Simon is the leading scorer for Detroit in 2009-10, as he is netting 15.0 ppg. Xavier Keeling has started all 25 games alongside Simon, and he adds 12.7 ppg to the mix. As for Eli Holman, the club's top rebounder with 8.2 rpg, he provides 11.4 ppg and 60 blocks, and Thomas Kennedy rounds out a quartet of double-digit scorers with 11.3 ppg. The Titans are generating 71.6 ppg while holding opponents to 66.0 ppg on 41 percent shooting from the field. Detroit shot 57.9 percent from the floor against Chicago State last time out, and the club racked up 20 assists. The Titans also earned a 39-30 rebounding advantage and outscored their overmatched opponents 19-11 from the foul line. A total of 20 forced turnovers helped the cause as well for Detroit, which got 15 points apiece from Kennedy and Lamar Lee. Keeling contributed 13 points, and Simon finished with a dozen.

Expect Detroit to jump on top early and hold off a late push by the Phoenix. The fans will be on the edge of their seats tonight.
