Harvard (15-5) at Yale (9-14)

GAME NOTES: The Harvard Crimson invade the John J. Lee Amphitheater in New Haven, Connecticut this evening for an Ivy League clash with the Yale Bulldogs.

Harvard halted a two-game losing streak last Saturday with an 80-66 decision over Penn. The Crimson are now 15-5 overall, including 4-2 in league action, and two of their five losses this season have come against ranked opponents.

As for Yale, it managed to put the brakes on a two-game slide of its own with a 79-64 victory over Columbia last weekend. The Bulldogs evened their Ivy record at 3-3 with that triumph, but their 9-14 overall record is still in need of improvement.

Yale owns a 112-66 series lead over Harvard, and the teams split a pair of meetings last season.

Jeremy Lin is clearly the best player on the Harvard roster, and he came through with 19 points and six assists in last Saturday's win over Penn. Lin also recorded five steals and grabbed five boards, proof of the guard's versatility. Oliver McNally added 14 points off the bench, and Kyle Casey contributed 13 points. The Crimson earned a 37-27 rebounding advantage in that clash and led by as many as 17 points. Lin is scoring 17.3 ppg on the strength of his 51.7 percent shooting from the floor, and he has dished out 90 assists to go along with 57 steals. The Crimson are generating 73.8 ppg as a team, while allowing 65.2 ppg on 39.8 percent field goal efficiency. Harvard is outrebounding its foes by 3.2 rpg.

Alex Zampier is scoring 17.5 ppg as the obvious go-to guy at the offensive end of the court for Yale. The only other double-digit scorer in the fold is Michael Sands, who checks in with 10.3 ppg. While the Bulldogs are netting a respectable 67.6 ppg, they are permitting 69.8 ppg to foes. Zampier scored 18 points last Saturday to lead the Bulldogs past the Columbia Lions, and Paul Nelson contributed 13 points. Yale also got a spark off the bench from Greg Mangano, who posted 12 points and 10 rebounds in 18 minutes of action. Strong defense was key to the win for the Bulldogs, who limited the Lions to 34.5 percent accuracy on their field goal attempts. A 46-27 rebounding edge also helped the cause. Yale shot a stellar 32-of-38 from the foul line in the win.

In what figures to be a close game from start to finish, give a narrow edge to Yale based solely on the homecourt advantage.
