Dayton (17-6) at Saint Louis (15-8)

GAME NOTES: Two surging clubs meet at Chaifetz Arena today, as the Dayton Flyers square off against the Saint Louis Billikens in an Atlantic 10 showdown.

The Flyers have started to fulfill expectations as the preseason favorite in the A-10, winning each of their past three games. Included in the team's current run is a 90-65 trouncing of Xavier a week ago and a 75-47 whipping of Charlotte on Wednesday. Both Xavier and Charlotte stood atop the A-10 standings at the time, so those victories were even more impressive for Dayton. The Flyers are now 6-3 within the conference and charging for the top spot.

SLU meanwhile, has won three straight as well, although its victories have come against teams in the bottom half of the A-10 standings. The team most recently slipped past Saint Joseph's, 56-52, on Tuesday to improve to 6-3 in conference play. The Billikens now return back home, where they have gone 12-1, including 3-0 versus league foes.

As for the all-time series, Dayton holds a 23-19 advantage over SLU following a split of two meetings a season ago.

Dayton held Charlotte to a dismal 25.0 percent shooting effort from the floor on Wednesday, as it coasted to a 28-point victory. The Flyers made good on 48.1 percent of their attempts from the field, in addition to holding a 44-33 advantage on the glass. Chris Wright poured in career-high 30 points and snared nine caroms to lead the charge, while Chris Johnson turned in 14 points and seven rebounds. For the season, Wright is averaging 14.8 ppg to pace Dayton and he is tied with Johnson in rebounding at 7.5 rpg. Johnson follows in the scoring department at 12.5 ppg and he shoots 37.1 percent from downtown.

SLU went 8-of-22 from beyond the arc compared to just a 2-of-12 showing by Saint Joseph's, as it scored a 56-52 win on Tuesday. The Billikens also did a nice job limiting Saint Joseph's to a lackluster 37.3 percent shooting performance from the field. Cody Ellis put forth 13 points and five boards in the victory, and Kwamain Mitchell chipped in with nine points. Mitchell is the squad's leading scorer on the season at 15.9 ppg and he also has a team-best 36 steals to his name. Willie Reed turns in 12.2 ppg and a team-high 8.3 rpg, while Ellis pitches in with 11.7 ppg and 5.9 rpg.

Both teams are peaking right now and each needs this win to stay close in the A-10 race. The Flyers are coming off two impressive wins and should be able to continue their run with another quality victory at SLU today.
