Delaware (7-18) at Drexel (14-12)

GAME NOTES: The Delaware Blue Hens have made the short trip to Philadelphia for a Colonial Athletic Association clash with the Drexel Dragons.

Delaware has lost four of its last five games, and the team now sits at 7-18 overall, including 3-11 in CAA play. On Wednesday, the Blue Hens struggled at the offensive end in a 67-54 loss to William & Mary. Considering the fact that Delaware is 2-10 in true road games this season, there isn't much reason for confidence this evening.

Drexel is happy to return home today where is has compiled a 9-3 record. The Dragons, who are 14-12 overall and 9-5 in CAA action, had a modest two-game win streak halted on Wednesday with a 75-64 loss to Hofstra.

Delaware did manage to defeat Drexel by a 62-58 final on January 2nd, and the Blue Hens hold a 73-68 series lead over the Dragons.

Jawan Carter is the only player on the Delaware roster that has started all 25 games this season, and he is clearly the go-to guy at the offensive end of the court. Carter is scoring 18.5 ppg to go along with 123 assists and 35 steals to pace the club in all three categories, and his output would be even more impressive if not for 38.2 percent shooting from the floor. The only other double-digit scorer in the fold is Alphonso Dawson, who is generating 12.0 ppg on 35.1 percent shooting. The Blue Hens are scoring 63.9 ppg on 39 percent shooting, and they are permitting foes to score 72.6 ppg. Against William & Mary earlier in the week, Delaware shot an embarrassing 30.3 percent from the field, including 5-of-23 from three-point range. Carter finished with 17 points, while Dawson added a dozen.

Heading into the most recent outing against Hofstra, Drexel was getting 14.2 ppg from Jamie Harris and 11.0 ppg from Chris Fouch. The Pride had the advantage of playing at home, and beating them on the road would have taken a strong showing by both Harris and Fouch, along with contributions from some of the club's role players. Harris scored 19 points in the tilt, but Fouch was limited to five points, and the Dragons shot a lowly 31.1 percent from the floor, including 1-of-9 from three-point range. Both teams scored 25 points from the foul line, and while Drexel's total of 46 rebounds was impressive, the Pride finished with 53 boards. The negatives overshadowed the fact that Drexel played strong defense.

Expect a close game from start to finish, and give an edge to the home team. Drexel will avenge the earlier loss to Delaware.
