GAME NOTES: Trojan Arena will be the stage for a Sun Belt Conference tussle this evening, as the Troy Trojans host the FIU Golden Panthers.

The Golden Panthers fell to 4-10 in conference action with a 69-65 overtime loss to South Alabama. It was the fourth straight loss for FIU, which is a terrible 3-14 on the road this year.

As for the Trojans, they saw their three-game winning streak come to an end with an 87-69 loss to Western Kentucky. The loss to the Hilltoppers dropped Troy to 8-5 in league play.

Earlier this season the Trojans evened the all-time series against FIU at four games apiece with an 84-68 decision over the Golden Panthers.

Scoring has been an issue for FIU all season, as the team is netting just 67.7 ppg, behind a pedestrian 41.1 percent shooting effort. Marvin Roberts is the only player netting double figures for FIU, as the forward is posting 15.7 ppg. The last time the Golden Panthers were on the floor the team scored just 65 points in an overtime loss to South Alabama. FIU shot a meager 33.3 percent from the floor and finished just 6-of-23 from long range. Tremayne Russell led the way with 20 points in the setback, while Roberts added 17 points, but also committed five turnovers.

The Trojans have been one of the most dangerous offensive teams in the conference this season and head into this game netting 76.9 ppg, behind a strong 48.2 percent shooting effort. Brandon Hazzard is leading the team with 16.9 ppg, while Richard Delk is posting 12.1 ppg. Michael Vogler, who is leading the team with 134 assists, is contributing 11.5 ppg, while Yamene Coleman is netting 10.8 ppg, to go along with 8.0 rpg. Unfortunately the last time the Trojans were on the floor the team only scored 69 points in a loss to Western Kentucky. Troy shot 46.3 percent in the matchup, but finished just 3-of-19 from behind the arc. Antywan Jones led the team with 20 points, while Hazzard and Vogler posted 16 and 11 points, respectively.

The Trojans are coming off a tough loss, but do not expect them to repeat that performance this evening. Troy is clearly the better team and should have no trouble getting back to the win column.
