Iowa (9-16) at (6) Purdue (20-3)

GAME NOTES: The sixth-ranked Purdue Boilermakers go for their seventh win in a row today, as they entertain the Iowa Hawkeyes in a Big Ten bout at Mackey Arena.

With six straight victories, the Boilermakers have put themselves back into the Big Ten race, as they are just a half game behind three teams for the top spot at 8-3. On Tuesday, Purdue took down one of those teams it was chasing, posting a 76-64 victory at 10th-ranked Michigan State. The Boilermakers not only snapped a nine-game losing streak at the Breslin Center with the outcome, but they also reached the 20-win plateau for the fourth consecutive season.

Iowa meanwhile, is coming off a solid victory of its own, notching a 78-65 decision over Northwestern on Wednesday. The triumph put a stop to a four-game slide and pushed the Hawkeyes to 9-16 overall and a still dismal 3-9 within the conference.

As far as the all-time series goes, Purdue holds an 81-70 advantage over Iowa and the Boilermakers have won the past six meetings, including a 67-56 victory earlier this season.

The Hawkeyes drained 50.0 percent of their attempts from the floor and 12- of-24 from beyond the arc, as they handled Northwestern on Wednesday. Iowa also made 20 free throws on its way to 78 points, well above the team's season average of just 61.8 ppg. Matt Gatens led the charge with 16 points and six boards, while Devan Bawinkel had 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from downtown. Aaron Fuller added a double-double of 13 points and 11 boards, and Jarryd Cole also finished with 13 points. For the season, Gatens is the lone Iowa player scoring in double figures at 12.2 ppg and he is also grabbing 4.4 rpg and dishing off 3.4 apg. Eric May and Fuller chip in with 9.3 and 8.5 ppg, respectively, and they also combine for 10.8 rpg.

The Boilermakers shot an efficient 56.8 percent from the field and went 20- of-22 at the foul line, as they bested Michigan State earlier in the week. E'Twaun Moore poured in a season-high 25 points to lead the way and he also dished out six assists. JaJuan Johnson tacked on 19 points and seven rebounds, while Robbie Hummel had 15 points, five boards and five helpers. On the campaign, Moore is the team's leading scorer with an average of 17.5 ppg and he shoots 37.0 percent from long distance. Hummel logs 16.4 ppg and a team- best 7.1 rpg for Purdue, while Johnson produces 14.6 ppg and 6.9 rpg.

Purdue has certainly found its stride and it should continue its winning ways behind the trio of Moore, Hummel and Johnson today.
