Iowa State (13-11) at (1) Kansas (23-1)

GAME NOTES: The top-ranked Kansas Jayhawks put their flawless Big 12 record and the nation's longest current homecourt winning streak on the line this evening in Lawrence, as they welcome the Iowa State Cyclones to town for a Big 12 matchup at the Allen Fieldhouse.

Kansas is a perfect 9-0 in league play, sitting atop the conference standings with a three-game lead over the closest competition. The team took a big step towards another conference crown on Monday, winning its ninth straight game (all in-conference), with a 80-68 rout of Texas in Austin. Kansas, which has yet to lose at home this season (15-0), has won 55 straight games at the Allen Fieldhouse.

Iowa State is just outside the conference cellar at 2-7 in league play. The Cyclones have dropped three straight games and six of their last seven, including a 65-56 decision at Missouri on Wednesday.

Kansas has won nine straight in a series that dates back to 1908 and currently holds a 167-58 edge all-time. The Jayhawks are seeking the regular-season sweep after blowing out ISU in Ames earlier this year, 84-61.

Despite the team's woes in Big 12 play this year, Iowa State is not exactly void of talent. The team does have a pair of reliable performers in frontcourt specialists Craig Brackins and Marquis Milstrap. Brackins leads the team in scoring at 16.8 ppg and ranks second in rebounding at 8.4 rpg. Gilstrap is second in the scoring column at 14.8 ppg and first on the boards at 9.2 rpg. As a team, ISU is averaging a decent 73.6 ppg, on a steady .457 shooting. Iowa State was undermanned in Columbia this week and shot a season-low .328 from the floor in a tough loss to Missouri. Still, the team kept things close by holding the Tigers to just .397 shooting. Gilstrap led the way in the loss with 18 points. Brackins recorded his ninth double-double of the season and 27th in his career with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Kansas is a balanced team with the ability to win games at either end of the floor. The Jayhawks currently lead the Big 12 in scoring (83.6 ppg), scoring margin (+20.7), field-goal percentage (.489), three-point accuracy (.411) and assists (17.8 per game). All-American candidate Sherron Collins is the undeniable leader on the court for KU, pacing the team in both scoring (15.6 ppg) and assists (4.3 apg). Marcus Morris has heated up of late, scoring 38 points in the last two games. He now ranks second on the team in scoring at 13.3 ppg. Freshman Xavier Henry is next in line at 13.1 ppg and center Cole Aldrich rounds this potent foursome out with 11.4 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. The Jayhawks showed their superiority in just about every aspect of the game against Texas this week, as the team racked up 80 points, while holding the Longhorns to a mere .373 shooting. Morris led the charge with 18 points and eight rebounds. Collins and Henry added 15 points apiece for Kansas, which forced Texas into 17 turnovers, while committing just 10.

Iowa State has lost 19 straight to ranked opponents. An even 20 is almost a certainty, with Kansas clicking on all cylinders and getting this one in the friendly confines of the Allen Fieldhouse.
