Memphis (17-7) at Tulsa (19-5)

GAME NOTES: The Memphis Tigers and Tulsa Golden Hurricane jostle for position in the Conference USA standings, as the two are set to square off at the Reynolds Center in Oklahoma.

Tulsa is a perfect 15-0 at home this season and is coming off Wednesday's 60-52 victory over Southern Miss. The Golden Hurricane have won three of their last four games overall to improve to 8-2 in league play. They are currently in second place in the C-USA standings, one game behind first-place UTEP.

Memphis is 7-2 in league action to sit just a game back of Tulsa as the regular season comes down the home stretch. The Tigers were also in action on Wednesday night, claiming a 76-70 triumph over UCF. Tonight's contest kicks off a stretch in which Memphis plays three of its next four on the road.

Memphis holds a 16-13 series edge over Tulsa. These teams will meet again on March 6th on the Tigers' home court to close out the regular season.

The Tigers managed to win Wednesday's contest despite allowing UCF to shoot 53.1 percent from the floor. That's because Memphis owned the boards, holding a key 34-20 rebounding advantage in the game. The Tigers also took advantage of their free-throw opportunities by knocking down 19-of-24 attempts (.792). Reserves Roburt Sallie and Doneal Mack shared team-high scoring honors with 15 points apiece. Wesley Witherspoon added 12 points, while Willie Kemp and Elliot Williams each scored 10. Williams has been the spark plug all season long, as he averages a team-best 19.2 ppg and hasn't missed a start. Witherspoon tallies 12.2 ppg, while Sallie and Mack each average 10.5 ppg. Forward Pierre Henderson-Niles (5.2 ppg, 5.2 rpg) had been in the starting lineup for 16 games this season, but he left the team earlier this week for personal reasons. Still, the Tigers are a strong group who boast a +5.0 in turnover margin while putting up 75.2 ppg.

The Golden Hurricane are headlined by a trio of players who each contribute in different ways. Senior Ben Uzoh (15.4 ppg) leads the team in scoring for a second straight season. Seven-footer Jerome Johnson became Conference USA's all-time leader in blocks (315) on Wednesday night. He is shooting 55.4 percent from the floor and is averaging 15.0 points and a team-best 8.3 rebounds per outing. Justin Hurtt (14.1 ppg) is the top threat out on the perimeter, where he is shooting 41.4 percent (53-of-128) on the season. Those three led the way once again in Wednesday's win over Southern Miss, as Hurtt and Uzoh (nine rebounds) each scored 16 points, while Jordan finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds. In addition, the Tulsa defense limited Southern Miss to 33.3 percent shooting for the game. Meanwhile, the Golden Hurricane shot 50 percent and also made 20-of-27 free throws (.741).

This is a pivotal game between two teams near the top of the pecking order in the conference. Look for the intensity to be at a high level throughout, but in the end, Tulsa's 15-0 home record is too significant to overlook.
