GAME NOTES: The Murray State Racers, one of the hottest teams in the country, will try to extend the nation's longest winning streak when they travel to Jacksonville State for an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Murray State was a 94-62 winner at Tennessee Tech on Thursday night in its last start. The Racers have won 14 straight games, the longest winning streak heading into the weekend. They are 23-3 overall, lead the OVC with a 14-0 record, and are 9-3 on the road this season. With a win today the Racers will clinch at least a tie for the conference regular-season title.

Jacksonville State was an 80-68 homecourt winner over Tennessee-Martin on Thursday night. The loss ended the Gamecocks' two-game losing streak. They are 11-13 overall and 7-7 in OVC play. Ten of Jacksonville State's wins have come at home, where they're 10-5 this season.

Murray State was a 92-68 homecourt winner over the Gamecocks on January 14th. The Gamecocks have never beaten the Racers in 12 tries.

The Racers got a big night from B.J. Jenkins on Thursday, as he finished with 23 points. Tony Easley wound up with 11, while Edward Daniel and Issac Miles contributed 10 points each. Murray State shot 54.5 percent from the floor in the first half to take a 36-25 lead into the break, then stepped up in the second half and shot 70.0 percent from the field. Murray State has been the epitome of balanced scoring this season. Jenkins, the top scorer on the ballclub at 10.8 ppg, is just 22nd in the conference in scoring. He's shooting 45.2 percent from the floor and is also sixth in the conference at 3.6 apg. Ivan Aska is next in scoring at 10.5 points per contest, shooting 60.5 percent from the floor. Easley is at 10.2 ppg, while shooting 67.9 percent from the floor. He's the leading rebounder on the ballclub at 5.6 rpg. Danero Thomas is providing 10.1 ppg, while Miles is at 10.0 ppg, and is tied for seventh in the OVC at 3.5 apg. Murray State is shooting an incredible 51.2 percent from the floor while scoring 78.9 ppg. Just as impressively, the Racers are giving up just 59.9 ppg. on defense, and averaging 11.0 steals per game. Headed into the weekend, Murray State was ranked second in the country in field goal percentage, scoring margin, and in steals.

Trenton Marshall and Nick Murphy combined for 38 points for the Gamecocks Thursday night. Marshall scored 20 points and Murphy added 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Jeremy Bynum produced 12 points. Jacksonville State led 36-25 at halftime after shooting 44.8 percent from the floor in the first half, including 5-of-8 from long range. The Gamecocks were 21-of-28 from the stripe after halftime, and finished 26-of-34 for the game. Marshall is the leading scorer in the conference at 18.3 ppg. He's shooting 43.8 percent from the floor and 80.7 percent from the foul line. Murphy is next at 14.2 ppg, and is leading the Gamecocks at 7.0 rebounds per contest. Bynum is at 11.0 ppg. Dominique Shellman is second in the conference at 4.6 apg. Jacksonville State is shooting a respectable 44.9 percent from the floor as a team, while scoring 72.1 apg. The Gamecocks are giving up 70.5 ppg. at the other end of the floor.

The Racers will keep on rolling, as Jacksonville State should provide little resistance.
