Washington (16-8) at Stanford (11-13)

GAME NOTES: Still in search of their first road win, the Washington Huskies invade Maples Pavilion tonight to tangle with the Stanford Cardinal in a Pac-10 bout.

The Huskies have gone an outstanding 16-1 at home, but they are 0-6 on the road and 0-1 in neutral site affairs. On Thursday, Washington was defeated, 93-81, by California as it fell to 0-5 on the road in league play. The loss snapped a four-game win streak and dropped the Huskies two games back of Cal for the top spot in the league at 6-6.

The Cardinal meanwhile, pulled off a thrilling 60-58 victory over Washington State on Thursday. The triumph ended a four-game slide and improved the team to 11-13 overall and 5-7 within the conference. Stanford is also the only team without a Pac-10 home loss, going a perfect 5-0 thus far.

Stanford leads the head-to-head series with Washington, 69-63, but the Huskies crushed the Cardinal, 94-61, in Seattle just last month.

The Huskies simply could not slow down Cal on Thursday, allowing the Bears to shoot 51.7 percent from the floor and score 93 points in a loss. Washington, meanwhile, hit on just 43.3 percent of its attempts from the field and only 3- of-13 from long range. Isaiah Thomas paced the squad in the loss with 24 points and six boards, while Quincy Pondexter had 18 points and three steals. Pondexter is one of the top scorers in the Pac-10 with an average of 20.5 ppg and he also pulls in 8.1 rpg to lead Washington in that department as well. Thomas forms a solid tandem with Pondexter, as he delivers 17.4 ppg and 4.4 rpg.

Jeremy Green drained a shot with 4.6 seconds remaining, lifting Stanford to a thrilling 60-58 come from behind win over WSU on Thursday. The Cardinal, which trailed 44-26 with just over 10 minutes left, shot 63.2 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes to avoid its longest losing skid in 17 years. Green finished the night with 24 points and six boards, while Landry Fields turned in 15 points and nine rebounds. Fields is averaging a healthy 22.7 ppg to pace Stanford on the season and he is also ripping down a team-high 8.8 rpg. Green helps to take some pressure off Fields, as he checks in with 17.6 ppg behind 41.4 percent shooting from downtown.

Washington has struggled on the road and Stanford has been terrific at home, so the Cardinal would appear to be the obvious choice. The Huskies however, thoroughly handled Stanford last month and the duo of Pondexter and Thomas should help them sweep the season series tonight.
