GAME NOTES: The DePaul Blue Demons cap off a three-game road trip today, as they take on the Seton Hall Pirates in Big East play at the Prudential Center.
The Demons have had plenty of time to figure out a way to grab another league victory, as they have been out of action ever since a 64-57 setback at Connecticut on February 6th. It marked the fifth loss in a row for DePaul, which is now 0-8 on the road and 1-10 in conference play.
The Pirates meanwhile, were in play just this past Thursday, when they edged Notre Dame, 90-87. The triumph ended a three-game losing skid and pushed the team to 13-9 overall and 4-7 within the conference. It also marked the fourth straight home win for SHU, which is now 11-3 at the Prudential Center.
This is the eighth all-time meeting between SHU and DePaul, with the Pirates having won five of the prior encounters.
The Blue Demons have really struggled at the offensive end of the floor this season, as they are scoring just 59.8 ppg and shooting only 39.6 percent from the floor and a dismal 56.3 percent at the foul line. Will Walker tops the squad in scoring at 16.5 ppg, while Mac Koshwal averages 13.7 ppg and a team- best 9.7 rpg. In the most recent outing, DePaul was outscored at the foul line 25-1 and that made the difference in a 64-57 loss at UConn. Walker tallied 24 points on 6-of-9 three-pointers in the setback, while Koshwal had 12 points and five boards.
Jeremy Hazell dropped in 35 points and the Pirates survived two late three- point tries from Notre Dame for a 90-87 victory on Thursday. Hazell finished the game 8-of-11 from long range for SHU, which shot 55.0 percent from the floor and 12-of-19 from downtown. One of the top scorers around, Hazell averages 22.6 ppg to pace SHU and he also has a team-high 44 steals to his credit. Herb Pope is another weapon for the Pirates and he turns in a double- double with 11.5 ppg and a team-high 10.8 rpg.
SHU is clearly the better team and Hazell and company should have no problems downing the Blue Demons today.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
