(7) Georgetown (18-5) at Rutgers (12-12)

GAME NOTES: The seventh-ranked Georgetown Hoyas go for the season sweep of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights today, as the two Big East rivals clash at the Louis Brown Athletic Center.

The Hoyas easily handled the Knights, 88-63, in the first meeting of the season, as they have now won eight straight games in the rivalry. Overall, Georgetown holds a 25-15 all-time series lead over the Knights, who last defeated the Hoyas in 2003.

Currently, Georgetown has won two straight and three of its past four outings, including a 79-70 besting of Providence on Tuesday. The team is now 18-5 overall and 8-4 within the conference.

As for the Knights, they stepped out of league play on Tuesday and posted a less than convincing 70-62 victory over Division II Caldwell. Still, it was the team's third win in four games following a lengthy nine-game slide. Rutgers is now an even 12-12 overall, although it has gone just 2-9 in Big East play.

The Hoyas shot a sizzling 60.7 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes, as they rallied to defeat Providence earlier in the week. Georgetown added a 16-of-21 effort from the foul line and had 20 assists on 30 made field goals. Chris Wright led a balanced attack with 21 points on 7-of-12 field goals, while Julian Vaughn posed 19 points. Austin Freeman tallied 17 points and Greg Monroe recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 assists. On the season, Freeman tops the roster in scoring at 16.8 ppg and he is a 50.0 percent three-point shooter. Monroe can just about do it all and he turns in 15.4 ppg, a team-high 9.5 rpg and 3.6 apg for the Hoyas. Wright tacks on 14.6 ppg, to go with a team-best 4.0 apg, and Jason Clark rounds out the double- digit scorers with 10.9 pg.

The Knights hit on 42.3 percent of their attempts from the floor and 11-of-28 from three-point range, as they picked up 70-62 victory over Caldwell on Tuesday. Rutgers also did a solid job at the foul line, where it went 15- of-19. Mike Rosario dropped in 25 points to lead the way, while Jonathan Mitchell posted 14 points and seven rebounds. For the season, Rosario averages 16.7 ppg to lead Rutgers and he also grabs 4.1 rpg. Mitchell adds 11.6 ppg and 5.4 rpg, while Hamady Ndiaye contributes 9.3 ppg and a team-best 6.7 rpg.

Georgetown is the clear choice here, and the Hoyas should have no trouble defeating the Knights with another balanced performance.
