Youngstown State (8-17) at Milwaukee (14-12)

GAME NOTES: The Milwaukee Panthers get a three-game homestand started tonight, as they host the Youngstown State Penguins in Horizon League play at U.S. Cellular Arena.

The Panthers salvaged the final contest of a three-game road trip on Saturday, scoring a 71-60 victory at Detroit. The win put an end to a three-game slide and improved the squad to 14-12 overall and 6-8 within the conference. Milwaukee now returns back home, where it has gone 7-3 thus far.

For the Penguins, they have been more competitive of late, but are still having trouble capturing wins. Most recently, the team suffered its fifth loss in a row, a narrow 77-75 defeat against Valparaiso on Saturday. Now at just 2-13 in league play, YSU heads back out the road, where it has gone 0-8 against conference foes.

In regard to the all-time series, Milwaukee holds a commanding 21-5 lead over YSU and that includes a 69-59 victory in the first meeting of the season.

The Penguins put forth a solid effort, but their 16 turnovers proved costly in a 77-75 loss to Valpo over the weekend. YSU's giveaways resulted in 19 points for Valpo and that was the deciding factor. Vytas Sulskis recorded a double- double of 24 points and 11 boards to lead the way, while Kelvin Bright had 18 points. DeAndre Mays also logged a double-double, finishing with 16 points and 10 assists. On the season, Mays averages 14.3 ppg to pace YSU and he also hands out a team-high 3.1 apg. Sulskis tacks on 11.0 ppg and 4.2 rpg and he is shoots a team-best 39.8 percent from downtown. Sirlester Martin adds 10.4 ppg and 5.4 rpg, while Bright chips in with 10.1 ppg.

Three-point shooting made the difference, as Milwaukee went 12-of-32 from beyond the arc compared to just a 3-of-13 effort by Detroit in a 71-60 result this past weekend. Ricky Franklin led the charge with 16 points and three steals, while James Eayrs had 15 points on 5-of-13 three-pointers. For the season, Franklin top the roster in scoring at 14.8 ppg, to go along with a team-high 3.9 apg. Eayrs is the team's leading rebounder at 5.8 rpg and he also provides some scoring with an average of 12.3 ppg.

The Panthers are just the better team all-around and should be able to sweep the season series with YSU tonight.
