GAME NOTES: Missouri Valley Conference action will take place this evening when the Indiana State Sycamores host the Bradley Braves at the Hulman Center.
The Braves pushed their league ledger to 8-7 on the season with a 68-59 upset of Northern Iowa on Saturday. It was the third win in the last four games for Bradley, which is just 4-6 on the road this season.
The Sycamores snapped a two-game slide the last time they were on the floor, defeating Drake, 76-66. With the win over the Bulldogs, the Sycamores pushed their conference mark to 7-8, and brought their home ledger to 9-3.
The Braves own a commanding 48-24 lead over Indiana State in the all-time series, and have won six of the last seven meetings.
The Braves have been mildly inconsistent at the offensive end of the court this season and come into this matchup averaging 67.2 ppg. Andrew Warren is pacing the team with 14.4 ppg, while Sam Maniscalco is contributing 12.3 ppg, to go along with a team-best 80 assists. The last time the Braves were on the floor the team shot 45.8 percent and connected on 22-of-24 shots from the foul line en route to a huge win over Northern Iowa. Warren led the way with 15 points, while Chris Roberts added 13 points. Taylor Brown and Will Egolf both tallied 12 points in the matchup.
The Sycamores have also dealt with issues at the offensive end of the floor, as the team is netting 66.4 ppg, behind a mediocre 43.3 percent shooting effort. Despite not having their top scorer on the floor, the Sycamores put forth one of their best showings on the season in a victory over Drake. Harry Marshall and his 13.9 ppg sat on the bench with a foot injury but Indiana State shot 49.0 percent from the floor and connected on 10-of-21 attempts from behind the arc in a 10-point win. Rashad Reed led the way with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Aaron Carter tallied 17 points. Jordan Printy posted 12 points and five assists, while Koang Doluony chipped in 11 points in the win.
The Sycamores were solid in their last matchup, but without Marshall the Sycamores will struggle this evening against Bradley. Look for the Braves to grab a solid road win and an important conference victory.
