Creighton (13-13) at Northern Iowa (22-3)

GAME NOTES: The Northern Iowa Panthers will take another crack at wrapping up the outright Missouri Valley Conference title, as they host the Creighton Bluejays tonight at the McLeod Center.

The Panthers, who have already secured at least a share of their second straight MVC regular-season crown, need just one more victory to lock up the outright title. On Saturday, UNI missed a chance to secure the championship, as it was upset, 68-59, at Bradley. The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for UNI, which was also dropped from the Top 25. Still, the Panthers are a healthy 22-3 overall and very much in control of the MVC at 13-2.

On the other side, Creighton has fallen in two of its past three outings, including a 67-63 setback to Illinois State on Saturday. The loss dropped the Jays to 13-13 overall and 8-7 in conference play, as they now head out to the road having gone just 2-5 as the visitor in league action.

The Jays lead the head-to-head series with UNI, 26-13, but the Panthers scored a 60-52 victory in the first meeting of the season.

Creighton shot a lackluster 37.0 percent from the field, including a sub par 5-of-20 performance from long distance, as it was defeated by Illinois State over the weekend. Kenny Lawson Jr. scored 20 points to lead the team in the loss, while Justin Carter posted 14 points, nine boards and four steals. On the season, Lawson Jr. is the lone player on the roster averaging in a double figures at 12.7 ppg and he is also pulling down a team-high 6.5 rpg. Carter follows with 9.3 ppg and 5.7 rpg for the Jays, who are tallying 69.0 ppg as a team.

The Panthers simply could not find their stroke on Saturday, hitting on a miserable 32.7 percent from the field in a 68-59 loss at Bradley. UNI also struggled greatly from behind the arc, where it went just 6-of-30. Ali Farokhmanesh guided the team in defeat with 14 points, while Jordan Eglseder and Kwadzo Ahelegbe checked in with 13 points apiece. Adam Koch was limited to just six points, but he still remains the team's leading scorer on the campaign at 12.6 ppg. Eglseder, a seven-foot center, is hot his tail with 12.2 ppg and he also rips down a team-high 7.6 rpg. Ahelegbe chips in with 11.1 ppg for a UNI club that has thrived on defense, holding foes to just 55.2 ppg.

UNI missed out on a chance to wrap up the outright MVC title on Saturday, but it should be able to get the job done on its home floor tonight.
