Eastern Illinois (14-11) at Tennessee Martin (4-21)

GAME NOTES: Eastern Illinois will try to remain in the win column when the Panthers take on the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks this evening in an Ohio Valley Conference tilt at the Elam Center.

The Panthers grabbed a 77-54 victory over Eastern Kentucky in their last matchup. It was the third straight win for Eastern Illinois, which is now 8-7 in conference action.

The Skyhawks fell to a woeful 1-14 in league play with a 70-61 setback to Tennessee Tech in their last contest. It was the fifth loss in the last six games for UT-Martin, which has collected all four of its wins at home.

Earlier this season the Panthers posted a 60-46 victory over Tennessee-Martin, leaving the Skyhawks with a 15-14 edge over EIU in the all-time series.

The last time the Panthers were on the floor the team shot a sizzling 54.7 percent, en route to a victory over Eastern Kentucky. Tyler Laser led the way in the win with 17 points, while James Hollowell posted 16 points and nine rebounds. Laser is currently the only player averaging double figures on the season for EIU, as the guard is netting 14.2 ppg. Jeremy Granger is second on the squad in scoring with 9.9 ppg and has also dished out a team-best 73 assists. The team as a whole has struggled offensively at times, producing just 67.5 ppg, despite shooting a respectable 45.1 percent from the floor.

The Skyhawks have struggled even more at the offensive end of the floor and come into this matchup netting just 64.7 ppg, behind a weak 37.9 percent shooting effort. Marquis Weddle has only played in 15 games, but he is currently leading the team with 16.2 ppg, while Benzor Simmons is netting 13.3 ppg. Tennessee-Martin's offensive problems continued in the team's recent loss to Tennessee Tech, as the Skyhawks shot just 34.0 percent from the floor and finished 25-of-41 from the foul line. Simmons led the way with 14 points in the loss, while Terrance Coleman posted 13 points and nine rebounds. As for Weddle, he struggled in the setback, netting just seven points on a 1-of-9 clip from the field.

The Skyhawks might have collected all four of their wins at home, but do not expect Tennessee-Martin to grab another one here, as the Panthers should get the conference win on the road.
