Hofstra (14-13) at Delaware (7-19)

GAME NOTES: Colonial Athletic Association foes will clash in Newark tonight, as the Delaware Blue Hens play host to the Hofstra Pride.

Hofstra has won its last two games and five of the last six to move to 14-13 overall and 7-8 in CAA action. On Saturday, the Pride defeated UNC Wilmington rather easily in an 87-70 final on the road. Still, they are just 4-7 in true road games this season.

In contrast to Hofstra's recent results, Delaware has lost two straight and five of the last six to fall to 7-19 on the season, including 3-12 in conference. The Pride suffered a 68-60 loss at Drexel on Saturday, and a lack of consistent offensive production has been the team's problem this season.

Hofstra defeated Delaware, 77-67, on January 30th to take a 45-23 lead in the all-time series.

Charles Jenkins is the only double-digit scorer for Hofstra this season, as he is netting 19.4 ppg to go along with 101 assists and 49 steals. Chaz Williams is a solid player as well, as he turns in 9.7 ppg and 104 assists. If Williams shot better than 39.1 percent from the floor, he would clearly be a double- digit scorer. The Pride are generating 68.6 ppg while allowing 66.0 ppg to opponents on 38.9 percent field goal efficiency. In the recent romp over UNC Wilmington, Cornelius Vines poured in 24 points on 7-of-12 shooting from three-point range. Jenkins was close behind with 22 points, while Greg Washington added 11 points. As for Nathaniel Lester, he contributed 10 points. The Pride shot 20-of-24 from the foul line and earned a 45-37 rebounding advantage. Strong defense was also one of the keys to victory.

As mentioned above, Delaware struggles at the offensive end as the team is generating just 63.7 ppg on 39 percent shooting from the field, including 29.8 percent from three-point range. Defensively, the Blue Hens are allowing 72.4 ppg to opponents. Jawan Carter leads Delaware with 18.3 ppg on 38 percent field goal efficiency, and he has dished out 129 assists. Alphonso Dawson supplies 12.0 ppg for the Blue Hens, who shot just 36.5 percent from the field against Drexel. Carter has led his team in scoring in seven consecutive outings, and he posted 14 points against the Dragons. Dawson added 13 points in the setback.

Although Delaware has the obvious advantage of playing at home, Hofstra is clearly the better team and will win comfortably.
