GAME NOTES: Colonial Athletic Association action will take place this evening when the Georgia State Panthers host the James Madison Dukes at the GSU Sports Arena.
The Dukes snapped a four-game skid with a 76-71 victory over Virginia Commonwealth in their last matchup. It was just the fourth league win for James Madison, which is a terrible 2-10 on the road.
As for the Panthers, they fell to 4-11 in CAA play with a 74-69 overtime loss to Towson. It was the sixth loss in the last seven contests for Georgia State, which has captured seven of its 10 victories at home.
The Dukes hold a 4-3 edge over Georgia State in the all-time series, and have won both matchups played at GSU Sports Arena.
James Madison was sensational in its last matchup, as the Dukes scored 76 points in a victory over VCU. The Dukes shot 45.8 percent from the floor and finished 16-of-24 from the foul line. Denzel Bowles led the way in the win with 21 points, while Julius Wells tallied 20 points. Pierre Curtis added 10 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals. Despite the strong showing, the Dukes come into this game netting just 65.7 ppg. Bowles has been the top player on the floor for JMU, as the big man is leading the team with 20.7 ppg and 9.2 rpg. Wells is helping out with 16.6 ppg and 5.2 rpg.
The Panthers have struggled mightily at the offensive end of the court this season, as the team is netting just 61.0 ppg. Joe Dukes is pacing the squad with 12.4 ppg and 102 assists, while Trae Goldston is contributing 10.9 ppg on the year. The last time the Panthers were in action the team suffered a five-point overtime loss to Towson. Georgia State shot 45.6 percent from the floor and also committed 19 turnovers in the loss. Goldston led the way in the setback with 12 points, while Ousman Krubally and Jihad Ali posted 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Neither team has played well this season, so do not expect a high-scoring affair. The Dukes have had their problems on the road, but they have more offensive punch, and should grab a win over the Panthers.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
