(11) Michigan State (20-6) at Indiana (9-15)

GAME NOTES: The 11th-ranked Michigan State Spartans have made their way to Bloomington for this evening's Big Ten Conference clash with the Indiana Hoosiers.

Michigan State reached the 20-win plateau on Saturday with a 65-54 decision over Penn State. That victory halted a surprising three-game losing streak for the Spartans, who are 20-6 overall and 10-3 in conference action. Of the six losses that they have suffered this season, four have come in true road games.

As for lowly Indiana, it has suffered six consecutive defeats to plummet to 9-15 overall and 3-9 in conference. The Hoosiers' last three losses have been lopsided, including Saturday's 83-55 beating at Wisconsin. They have posted seven of their nine wins at home this season, which is a reason for confidence, but they are clearly underdogs tonight.

Indiana owns a 64-45 series advantage over Michigan State, but the Spartans have won the last three meetings.

Michigan State is scoring 74.4 ppg this season while allowing 64.5 ppg to opponents on 41 percent shooting from the field. The leading scorer for the Spartans is Kalin Lucas with 15.8 ppg. Durrell Summers and Raymar Morgan are both scoring 10.4 ppg, and Draymond Green rounds out a foursome of double- digit scorers for the Spartans with 10.0 ppg. Michigan State is only of the nation's best rebounding teams, as it is pulling down 9.5 rpg more than the opposition. Lucas scored 24 points and handed out six assists to lead the Spartans over Penn State last time out. Chris Allen added 14 points for Michigan, which turned the ball over only nine times and earned a 38-24 rebounding advantage. A 7-of-13 effort from three-point range certainly helped the cause.

Indiana turned the ball over 21 times against Wisconsin on Saturday and was outscored 29-8 off giveaways. The Hoosiers, who were outrebounded by a 33-26 margin, allowed the Badgers to shoot 50.8 percent from the floor. Christian Watford scored 15 points in the loss to pace the Hoosiers, while Verdell Jones III added 11 points. Indiana trailed by 22 points at intermission and by as many as 35 points in the second half. Through 24 games, all of which he has started, Jones is averaging 14.6 ppg. Watford has been a starter in every contest as well and is posting 12.6 ppg. Indiana is generating 68.0 ppg while allowing 70.2 ppg to opponents.

There is no reason to expect anything other than a convincing Michigan State victory tonight, as the Spartans are far superior to the Hoosiers.
