Northeastern (12-3) at UNC Wilmington (8-18)

GAME NOTES: With just three games remaining in their Colonial Athletic Association schedule, the Northeastern Huskies find themselves tied with Old Dominion atop the standings as they face off against the UNC Wilmington Seahawks at Trask Coliseum tonight.

The Huskies are sporting a 12-3 conference mark at the moment and that has them tied with ODU, which is set to take on Towson at home tonight. The Huskies lost out on a chance to take over the top spot all by themselves on Saturday as they suffered a narrow 53-52 loss to William & Mary at Kaplan Arena in Virginia. The defeat snapped a four-game win streak for Northeastern, with the team having a date against Louisiana Tech coming up this weekend.

As for the Seahawks, they entered the week as one of four teams tied near the bottom of the CAA with just four wins in 15 opportunities. Over the weekend the team was brushed aside by Hofstra at home in an 87-70 final, the team's fifth loss in the last six outings.

Northeastern crushed the Seahawks in the first meeting of the season last month with a 79-56 victory at home, which means the all-time series is now tied at three games apiece.

Trailing by as many as 16 points in the second half, Northeastern fought back against the Tribe and actually took a 52-51 lead with 23 seconds remaining when Chaisson Allen converted a layup and a subsequent free throw. However, in the final seconds, Kendrix Brown made good on a jumper for the home team and Allen ended up missing a shot in the waning moments of the one-point setback. Allen finished as the lone double-digit scorer for the Huskies with his 10 points, shooting a mere 3-of-12 from the floor. Matt Janning added eight points and five assists, but he missed all five of his three-point tries as the team hit only 6-of-23 out on the perimeter. Janning (15.1 ppg) and Allen (14.2 ppg) are the primary scorers for Northeastern this season because they've combined to make 101 of the team's 145 three-point baskets. But more than just sharpshooters, Janning and Allen are well aware that they have to keep their teammates involved in the action as well, which is why they've produced 80 and 99 assists, respectively, through 26 starts.

The Seahawks put up a solid 70 points over the weekend, but the squad hurt itself with just 39.6 percent shooting from the floor, 21-of-36 at the free- throw line and turning the ball over 17 times in the loss to Hofstra at home. Of the starters, only Ahmad Grant seemed to be dialed into the event as he tallied a team-best 23 points, compared to a combined 21 points for the other four starters. Chad Tomko tallied 13 points, five assists and seven steals off the bench, but even his effort could not offset the seven-point, six-rebound game posted by John Fields who eventually fouled out. Earlier in the season, Fields was a force among the big men in the CAA, but his production has dropped off some in recent weeks as he now averages 10.6 ppg and 9.1 rpg. Still a 53.2 percent shooter from the field, Fields has suffered with just 50.4 percent accuracy at the free-throw line and a mere 14 assists over the course of 621 minutes of playing time. Tomko (13.7 ppg) has tried to pick up the slack in the passing department with his 111 assists, but he can't do it all alone for a squad that has 430 turnovers and just 327 dishes so far this season.

The biggest thing for the Huskies this week is to avoid a letdown against a team that it should once again dominate, even on the road. Northeastern is well aware of the importance of keeping pace with ODU, so expect a solid effort by the visitors tonight.
