Middle Tennessee (16-11) at Troy (14-11)

GAME NOTES: A matchup that could potentially decide the outcome in the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference will take place this evening when the Troy Trojans host the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders at Trojan Arena.

The Blue Raiders, who currently rest on top of the division with a 10-4 ledger, come into this matchup with a three-game winning streak. The last time MTU was on the floor the team took a break from league play to pound Houston Baptist, 109-79.

As for the Trojans, they are currently one game behind MT in the division with a 9-5 mark. The last time the Trojans were on the floor the team grabbed an 81-78 victory over FIU. It was the fourth win in the last five games for Troy, which is 8-2 at home this season.

Earlier this month the Trojans grabbed a 70-67 victory over MT, but the Blue Raiders still own a 7-5 advantage in the all-time series.

The Blue Raiders rode their hot shooting in their recent win over Houston Baptist. MT shot a sizzling 56.8 percent from the floor and also connected on 15-of-33 from behind the arc, tying a school record for most three-pointers in a matchup. The majority of the damage was caused by James Washington, who set a school-record with 10 three-point baskets. Washington finished with 34 points and eight assists, while Desmond Yates posted 20 points, to go along with six boards and five steals. Yates has been the top player on the floor for MTU this season, as the forward is netting 14.3 ppg. Montarrio Haddock is contributing 13.5 ppg and 6.0 rpg, while Washington is posting 12.2 ppg, to go along with 99 assists.

The Trojans are a lethal group offensively, as the team comes into this matchup netting 77.0 ppg, behind a staggering 48.2 percent shooting effort. Brandon Hazzard is currently pacing the team with 17.0 ppg, while Richard Delk is contributing 12.2 ppg. Michael Vogler, who is leading the team with 143 assists, is netting 11.8 ppg, while Yamene Coleman is helping out with 10.8 ppg and 8.2 rpg. The last time Troy was in action the team grabbed a thrilling, 81-78 decision over FIU. The Trojans shot 50.0 percent from the floor and were led by Vogler, who scored 19 points to go along with nine assists. Hazzard added 18 points, while Delk tallied 13. As for Coleman, he finished with a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The Trojans earned a victory on the road against MT just a couple of weeks ago, and with a home crowd behind them this time, look for Troy to complete the regular season sweep over the Blue Raiders.
