South Alabama (15-12) at Western Kentucky (15-12)

GAME NOTES: Sun Belt Conference action will take place this evening in Bowling Green, when the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers host the South Alabama Jaguars at E.A. Diddle Arena.

The last time South Alabama was on the floor the team grabbed a 67-65 victory over UL-Lafayette. It was the third win in the last four games for the Jaguars, who are now just 7-8 in conference play.

As for the Hilltoppers, they pushed their conference mark to 8-6 on the season with a 67-46 decision over Arkansas-Little Rock. It was the fourth win in the last six games for Western Kentucky, which is 11-4 at home on the year.

Earlier this season the Hilltoppers grabbed a thrilling, 67-64 overtime win over South Alabama. Despite the loss, the Jaguars own a 30-26 edge over Western Kentucky in the all-time series.

The Jaguars have been inconsistent at the offensive end of the floor this season, as the team is netting just 68.1 ppg, behind a pedestrian 41.8 percent shooting effort. Tim Williams is currently leading the team with 15.6 ppg and 7.7 rpg, while Martino Brock is contributing 12.3 ppg, to go along with 6.9 rpg. The last time South Alabama was on the floor the team struggled offensively, but still managed to grab a victory over UL-Lafayette. South Alabama shot just 38.6 percent from the floor in the win and also struggled from long range, netting just 9-of-25 three-point attempts. Williams was outstanding in the win, finishing with 23 points, 12 rebounds and five assists, while Brock also tallied a double-double, posting 19 points to go along with 13 rebounds.

The Hilltoppers, much like their counterpart this evening, have not enjoyed overwhelming success offensively, as the team is producing just 69.7 ppg. AJ Slaughter is pacing the team on the year with 17.2 ppg and 116 assists, while Steffphon Pettigrew is contributing 14.9 ppg, and 6.1 rpg. Sergio Kerusch, who has missed significant time this season, comes into this matchup with 13.7 ppg and 6.5 rpg. The Hilltoppers did not put forth their best effort in their last matchup, but the team did more than enough to grab a 21-point win over Arkansas-Little Rock. WKU shot 42.6 percent from the floor, and dominated the glass by a 42-30 margin. Slaughter led the way with 20 points and eight assists, while Kerusch and Pettigrew contributed nine and eight points, respectively.

The Hilltoppers have struggled to get over the hump this season, but with the return of Kerusch, look for Western Kentucky to continue to win, and that includes this evening's matchup at home.
