GAME NOTES: The Austin Peay Governors and Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles finally close out their regular-season series, as they take on one another in Ohio Valley Conference action from the Dunn Center this evening. This game was originally scheduled for February 9th, but rescheduled due to inclement weather.

This marks the 132nd all-time meeting between these two rivals, with APSU clinging to a 67-64 series advantage. It is the Golden Eagles however, who seek the season sweep, after posting a 94-90 victory at home on January 21st.

APSU enters this contest following Monday's 83-63 rout of Jacksonville State. With the win, the Govs moved to a solid 9-6 in conference play, good for fourth place.

Tennessee Tech has lost four of its last five games overall to plummet to 7-9 in OVC play. It was Tennessee State the outlasted Tech on Monday, in a 109-102 double-overtime barn-burner.

The Golden Eagles have had a great deal of success at the offensive end of the floor this season, averaging 75.9 ppg on an impressive .474 shooting. The accuracy has carried behind the arc as well, with Tech delivering on an even 40 percent of its long range attempts. The defensive end is where this team has faltered, allowing a generous 78.3 ppg this year, on .466 shooting. Kevin Murphy currently leads the team in scoring at nearly 15 points per game (14.9). He is followed closely by Frank Davis (14.6 ppg), who is one of the nation's top three-point threats, draining just over 47 percent from behind the arc, while amassing 81 treys. Elijah Muhammad rounds out the top scoring threats on the roster at 12.3 ppg and is also the team's top distributor (4.4 apg). The Golden Eagles ended up being short-handed in the extra sessions against Tennessee State on Monday, as the team's top four post players fouled out in what was a disappointing loss for Tech. The loss spoiled terrific performances from a number of Golden Eagles. Muhammad tallied a game-high 26 points and doled out eight assists against just one turnover in 46 minutes of action. Jud Dillard recorded a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Davis (17 points), Alfred Jones (13 points) and Murphy (10 points) were heard from as well.

Austin Peay shot a scorching 73.9 percent from the floor in the first half against Jacksonville State and never looked back, taking a huge 45-27 lead into the intermission before settling in for a 20-point victory. The Govs shot .596 from the floor overall and were an impressive 17-of-22 from the free- throw line. Anthony Campbell led the offensive charge with 15 points. Three others joined him in double figures in Wes Channels (12 pts), Tyrone Caldwell (11 pts) and Caleb Brown (11 pts). The Governors are not an offensive juggernaut at just 72.4 ppg this year, but the team is efficient, delivering on 45.7 percent of its shots. The team does boast of two of the OVC's top five scorers in Channels (16.1 ppg) and Campbell (15.6 ppg). The pair are both productive from long range, combining for 105 of the team's 164 three-pointers thus far. John Fraley gives the team a presence in the frontcourt, averaging 9.2 ppg and a team-high 7.6 rpg.

The Governors have been very good on their own floor this season and although they will need to keep pace with the explosive Golden Eagles, APSU should be up to the task.
