U-C-L-A (11-13) at Washington State (15-10)

GAME NOTES: The UCLA Bruins have traveled to Pullman for a Pac-10 Conference battle with the Washington State Cougars.

Losses in back-to-back games have dropped UCLA to 11-13 overall and 6-6 in conference. The Bruins are coming off a 68-64 setback at rival USC on Sunday, and they carry a 2-4 mark in true road games into this evening's affair.

As for Washington State, it has lost its last two games and five of the last six to plummet to 15-10 overall and 5-8 in Pac-10 action. The Cougars dropped an 86-70 decision to California last Saturday and are now 3-7 in true road games. Fortunately, they carry a 9-3 home mark into tonight's tilt.

UCLA beat Washington State in a 74-62 final last month, and the Bruins own a commanding 96-14 series lead over the Cougars.

Through 24 games, UCLA is scoring 66.7 ppg while allowing 68.0 ppg to its opponents. Michael Roll is the leading scorer for the Bruins with 13.9 ppg on the strength of his 44.2 percent shooting from three-point range. Roll also leads the club with 86 assists, while Malcolm Lee checks in with 12.3 ppg and 83 assists. On Sunday, UCLA shot just 39.3 percent from the floor against USC, including 26.9 percent from three-point range. Even free-throw shooting proved to be problematic for the Bruins, who finished a dismal 9-of-18 from the charity stripe. They turned the ball over 20 times as well, and all of the negatives overshadowed a 46-25 rebounding advantage. Roll scored 21 points in the setback.

Klay Thompson is one of the best players in the Pac-10, and the Washington State standout is currently averaging 21.4 ppg. Reggie Moore adds 13.6 ppg while dishing out 105 assists, and DeAngelo Casto provides 10.2 ppg to go with 55 blocks. The Cougars are generating 75.0 ppg while allowing 71.9 ppg to opponents. In the most recent outing against California, Thompson poured in 28 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the floor, including 5-of-8 from three-point range. Casto added 13 points for the Cougars, who shot a healthy 50.9 percent from the floor. Unfortunately, they turned the ball over 19 times and were outscored by seven points from the foul line. Washington State also struggled defensively in defeat.

Expect a win by the home team tonight, as it will find a way to knock off UCLA. Thompson will be the man to watch as usual.
