Buffalo (15-9) at Saint Peter's (15-11)

GAME NOTES: The Buffalo Bulls and Saint Peter's Peacocks step out of their respective conference schedules to face one another in a BracketBusters event at the Yanitelli Center in Jersey City.

Buffalo is riding a four-game win streak entering this afternoon's tilt. The Bulls stand at 15-9 on the season and 8-5 in Mid-American Conference play. Today's contest kicks off a key stretch in which they'll play three of their final four regular-season games on the road.

On the other side of the floor, Saint Peter's is hoping to build on Wednesday's 69-61 triumph over Loyola-Maryland. It has been nearly a month since the Peacocks have won back-to-back games. Still, they are 15-11 on the year and currently hold fourth place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings with a 10-6 mark in league play.

Buffalo won the only previous meeting between these two schools on the hardwood.

The Bulls notched their fourth straight win with a 64-51 triumph over Bowling Green on Wednesday night, capping a perfect three-game homestand. In that contest, they knocked down 10 three-pointers and shot a healthy 51.1 percent from the floor. UB built a 15-point lead at halftime and never let off the gas in the second stanza. Rodney Pierce scored a team-high 18 points to go along with six assists in the win. Reserves Sean Smiley and Max Boudreau added 14 and 12 points, respectively. Pierce has assumed the leading role offensively throughout the season, as he paces UB with 18.8 ppg and has knocked down a team-best 49 threes (.368). Pierce is complemented down low by Calvin Betts, who is registering 11.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest. On the season, the Bulls are averaging 7.2 treys per outing, and they used a three-point barrage to break Bowling Green's zone on Wednesday night.

Trailing by nine midway through the second half against Loyola, Saint Peter's seized the momentum with a 19-4 run. During that flurry, the Peacocks held Loyola to one field goal over a six-minute stretch. Nick Leon led all scorers with 18 points in the victory, while Darius Conley added 14 points and Wesley Jenkins finished with 12. A major factor in the comeback was the Peacocks' ability to control the boards, as they grabbed 21 offensive rebounds and held a 44-28 advantage on the glass. Saint Peter's has been paced by the guard tandem of Jenkins (14.2 ppg, 5.2 rpg) and Leon (12.8 ppg) for much of the season, and those two have combined for 89 three-pointers on the year. Still, it's guys like Ryan Bacon (10.0 ppg, 9.0 rpg) in the blocks who handle much of the dirty work down low.

While these teams are unfamiliar with one another, Buffalo has been the hotter team of late, and the Bulls have done so facing a more difficult schedule.
