College of Charleston (18-9) at George Mason (16-11)

GAME NOTES: The Southern Conference and the Colonial Athletic Association will collide this evening in a BracketBuster matchup, as the Charleston Cougars battle the George Mason Patriots at the Patriot Center.

The Cougars, who are currently leading the Southern Conference with a 13-3 mark, come into this matchup fresh off a 73-72 victory over Appalachian State. It was the fifth win in the last six games for Charleston, which is a mere 5-7 on the road this season.

The Patriots limp into this game having lost four of their last five matchups, including two in a row. The last time George Mason was on the floor the team suffered a 73-60 setback to Drexel.

This will be the fifth meeting between the two schools on the hardwood. The previous four matchups have been split down the middle with the most recent victory going to Charleston by a 74-70 margin back in 1998.

The Cougars have roared past their opponents this season, especially at the offensive end of the floor where the team is producing 74.4 ppg. Andrew Goudelock is pacing the team with 19.3 ppg and 101 assists, while Donavan Monroe is averaging 12.7 ppg, while Jeremy Simmons is contributing 12.1 ppg, to go along with a team-high 7.9 rpg. The last time the Cougars were in action the team clawed their way past Appalachian State. Charleston shot a pedestrian 41.2 percent from the floor in the win and was paced by Simmons, who led the way with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Goudelock added 18 points, while Casaan Breeden tallied 15 points.

Unlike their counterpart, the Patriots have been wildly inconsistent at the offensive end of the floor, and come into this contest netting just 66.6 ppg. Cam Long is pacing the squad with 12.8 ppg and 86 assists, while Ryan Pearson is contributing 11.6 ppg, to go along with 6.5 rpg. The last time George Mason was on the floor the team only scored 60 points in a loss to William & Mary. George Mason shot 48.0 percent in the matchup and was paced by Kevin Foster, who finished with 22 points and nine rebounds. As for Long, he struggled in the setback, missing all six of his field goals, while finishing the game with just three points.

The Cougars have been ferocious at the offensive end of the floor and even though the team is on the road, look for Charleston to earn a hard fought win over the Patriots.
