Connecticut (15-11) at Rutgers (14-12)

GAME NOTES: Fresh off a confidence-building victory over one of the nation's best teams, the Connecticut Huskies get back to action today against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in Big East Conference play.

Connecticut carried a two-game skid into Monday's meeting with Villanova on the road, and few gave the Huskies any chance to win that game. Therefore, the 84-75 triumph over the Wildcats was surprising. UConn is now 15-11 overall after its first true road win of the season, but the club's 5-8 Big East record still needs to be improved.

As for Rutgers, it is playing outstanding ball right now, as victories in three straight games and five of the last six have turned around a season headed for disaster. On Tuesday, the Scarlet Knights knocked off DePaul by a 68-64 final to earn their first true road win of the season. Now they return home where they are 12-4 this season. Rutgers is 15-11 overall and 4-9 in league play.

UConn owns a 32-13 series advantage over Rutgers, which includes wins in 17 of the last 18 meetings.

Jerome Dyson leads four double-digit scorers for UConn this season with his 18.7 ppg, and he has dished out 119 assists. Stanley Robinson provides 15.7 ppg and 7.6 rpg while shooting 51.7 percent from the floor, and Kemba Walker is posting 14.0 ppg to go along with 147 assists and 53 steals. Gavin Edwards brings 10.6 ppg to the mix for the Huskies, who are generating 71.7 ppg while holding opponents to 66.9 ppg on 38.4 percent shooting from the field. Walker was tremendous for the Huskies in the win over Villanova, as he poured in 29 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Dyson scored 15 points in that tilt, and Robinson added 10 points. UConn earned a 40-29 rebounding advantage and outscored the Wildcats 35-16 from the foul line.

Mike Rosario leads Rutgers in scoring with 16.2 ppg on 37.8 percent shooting from the field, and Jonathan Mitchell checks in with 11.8 ppg. Overall this season, the Scarlet Knights are netting 67.9 ppg while allowing 70.2 ppg to opponents. In Big East games alone, however, the negative scoring differential is much great, as Rutgers is being outgunned by 11.5 ppg. Against DePaul, Rutgers earned a 43-25 rebounding advantage, perhaps the most obvious contributing factor in the win. The Scarlet Knights committed 18 turnovers while forcing just nine giveaways, and they were fortunate to overcome the carelessness. Hamady Ndiaye posted 15 points and 13 rebounds for RU before fouling out, and Dane Miller added 14 points in the triumph.

Rutgers will certainly put up a fight in this tilt, but UConn will win the game on the road. Robinson, Walker and Dyson are a tremendous trio.
