Cornell (22-4) at Dartmouth (5-18)

GAME NOTES: The Cornell Big Red are heavily favored in tonight's Ivy League road clash with the Dartmouth Big Green.

Cornell invaded Cambridge last night to do battle with Harvard, and that game resulted in a 79-70 triumph. The Big Red have now won 10 of their last 11 outings to move to 22-4 overall and 8-1 in Ivy League action. A total of 13 of their 22 wins have come away from home, so expect a relaxed and confident team tonight.

Dartmouth beat Columbia last night by a 48-44 final, the first Ivy League win for interim coach Mark Graupe. That triumph halted a seven-game skid and marked the 300th Ivy victory in the history of the program. Still, the Big Green are just 5-18 overall this season, including 1-8 versus Ivy League foes.

Dartmouth owns a 101-98 series lead over Cornell, but the Big Red crushed the Big Green by a 71-37 final last month.

Ryan Wittman is the leading scorer for Cornell this season, as he is posting 17.4 ppg on the strength of his 41 percent shooting from three-point range. Jeff Foote is a standout performer as well, as he brings 12.5 ppg, 8.5 rpg and 50 blocks to the mix. The third and final double-digit scorer for the Big Red is Louis Dale with 11.4 ppg, and he has handed out 113 assists as well. Cornell is generating 75.2 ppg while allowing 63.8 ppg to opponents. Wittman strengthened his Ivy League Player of the Year prospects last night with 27 points against Harvard on the strength of six three-pointers. Dale added 20 points and five assists, while Foote and Jon Jaques added 11 points apiece. Cornell shot 50 percent from the floor, including 12-of-23 from three-point range, and the team earned a 31-20 rebounding advantage as well.

Dartmouth has been one of the nation's worst offensive teams all season. The Big Green are currently averaging only 53.7 pp. on 38.2 percent shooting from the floor, including 28 percent from three-point range. Defensively, the Big Green are allowing foes to net 64.7 ppg, and they are also being outrebounded by a margin of nearly seven boards per outing. Ronnie Dixon is the leading scorer for Dartmouth, but it is hard to get excited about his 8.4 ppg. Against Columbia last time out, the Big Green played tremendous defense, limiting the Lions to 31 percent shooting from the floor, including 2-of-23 from three- point range. The fact that they also forced 16 turnovers certainly helped. Clive Weeden scored 12 points in the win, and Dixon added 11 points.

Cornell is far superior to Dartmouth and will win easily tonight. The Big Red may lead from wire to wire.
