GAME NOTES: The Matadome will be the stage for a BracketBuster meeting between the Cal State Northridge Matadors and the Drake Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs, who are 7-9 in Missouri Valley Conference play, snapped a four- game slide with a 79-72 victory over Southern Illinois. Playing on the road has been a problem for Drake, which is 3-7 as the visitor.

As for the Matadors, they are just 5-7 in Big West action, and are coming off a 73-68 victory over Cal Poly. The win snapped a three-game slide for Northridge, which is a mediocre 6-4 at home this year.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the Matadors and the Bulldogs on the hardwood.

The Bulldogs took a bite out of Southern Illinois in their last matchup by shooting 42.6 percent from the floor, and connecting on 31-fo-41 attempts from the foul line. Ryan Wedel led the way with 17 points, while Seth VanDeest added 14 points. Josh Young helped out with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Adam Templeton tallied 11 points. On the season however, the team has been slightly inconsistent, averaging 67.6 ppg. Young is pacing the team with 14.1 ppg and 2.7 apg, while Wedel and Templeton are contributing 11.5 and 10.0 ppg, respectively. Templeton is also leading the team with 7.3 rpg.

The Matadors have relied heavily on the tandem of Kenny Daniels and Lenny Daniel this season, and for the most part the two players have helped Northridge average a respectable 71.8 ppg. Daniels is currently leading the team with 14.8 ppg, while Daniel is posting 11.4 ppg, to go along with 7.5 rpg. The last time the Matadors were on the floor the team grabbed a five- point win over Cal Poly. Northridge shot 45.5 percent from the floor and finished with an impressive 30-of-39 clip from the foul line. Daniel led the way with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Daniels added 19 points.

The Matadors have been solid offensively, but what has hurt them has been their play at the defensive end of the court. Even though Drake is on the road, look for the Bulldogs to grab an impressive win.
