Florida Atlantic (14-12) at Troy (15-11)

GAME NOTES: A pivotal Sun Belt Conference clash will take place this evening when the Troy Trojans host the Florida Atlantic Owls at Trojan Arena.

The Owls, who are currently tied with Troy and Middle Tennessee for the top spot in the Sun Belt Conference, come into this game fresh off a 77-74 victory over FIU. It was the seventh win in the last 10 games for FAU, which is 5-9 on the road this season.

The Trojans, who are also 10-5 in conference action, have won their last two matchups, including a 66-62 decision over Middle Tennessee in their last contest. It was the sixth victory in the last eight games for Troy, which is an impressive 9-2 at home.

Earlier this season the Owls grabbed an 83-69 victory over Troy, but despite the loss the Trojans still hold a 17-7 edge over FAU in the all-time series.

The Owls have been dangerous at the offensive end of the floor this season, and head into this contest averaging 74.8 ppg. Greg Gantt is leading the team with 15.8 ppg, while Raymond Taylor is contributing 14.5 ppg, and a team-best 158 assists. FAU's offensive success continued in its last win over FIU, as the Owls shot 53.4 percent from the floor and also won the battle on the paint by a 38-24 margin. Sanchez Hughley led the way with 19 points, while Taylor added 17 points and six assists. As for Gantt, he finished with 16 points in the win.

The Trojans have also been a tough team offensively, as Troy is currently producing 76.6 ppg, behind an impressive 48.1 percent shooting effort. Brandon Hazzard is leading the way with 16.5 ppg, while Richard Delk is contributing 12.3 ppg. Michael Vogler, who is leading the team with 148 assists, is also posting 11.8 ppg, while Yamene Coleman is helping out with 10.7 ppg and 8.0 rpg. The last time the Trojans were on the floor the team only scored 66 points, but that was good enough for Troy to grab a victory over Middle Tennessee. The Trojans shot 44.0 percent from the floor in the contest, and finished 20-of-30 from the foul line. Delk led the way with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Vogler added 11 points and five assists. Antywan Jones and Bernard Toombs tallied 10 points apiece in the win.

Both teams are lethal offensively, but the Owls have struggled at the defensive end of the floor and that should hurt their chances this evening at Trojan Arena.
