Louisville (17-9) at DePaul (8-17)

GAME NOTES: The Louisville Cardinals will try to extend their recent run, as they invade Allstate Arena today to take on the DePaul Blue Demons in a Big East affair.

The Cardinals have won two straight and four of their last five outings to move to 8-5 in a tough Big East Conference. On Wednesday, Louisville was able to pull out a 91-89 double-overtime victory over Notre Dame to improve to 17-9 overall. It was a positive result, but a near letdown following a 66-60 upset of then second-ranked Syracuse on Sunday.

On the flip side, DePaul continues to struggle in the Big East and owns a league-worst 1-12 record. Since defeating Marquette on January 20th, the Blue Demons have fallen in seven straight outings, including a 68-64 setback to Rutgers on Tuesday.

As for the all-time series, Louisville claims a 33-21 lead over DePaul, including five straight victories in the rivalry.

Samardo Samuels poured in a career-high 36 points and the Cardinals outlasted Notre Dame, 91-89, in a double-overtime thrilled on Wednesday. Samuels finished the night 16-of-19 at the foul line for Louisville, which went an efficient 35-of-40 at the stripe as a team. Edgar Sosa and Jared Swopshire posted 12 points apiece in the win. With his career night, Samuels now averages 16.2 ppg and 7.3 rpg to lead the Cardinals in both departments for the season. Sosa chips in with 12.9 ppg and he has been in charge of setting up Samuels and company, dishing out a team-high 4.2 apg.

The Blue Demons took a 35-24 lead to the lock room, but shot just 36.0 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes of an eventual 68-64 loss to Rutgers on Tuesday. DePaul was outrebounded on the offensive glass, 18-10, helping Rutgers to a 23-10 advantage in second-chance points. Mac Koshwal turned in an all-around effort of 24 points, 12 boards and eight steals to pace DePaul, while Will Walker tallied 19 points. Walker currently heads the team in scoring with 16.7 ppg, although he is shooting only 37.4 percent from the floor. Koshwal tacks on 14.3 ppg and he also rips down a team-high 9.9 rpg.

The Cardinals are starting to come on strong and should be able to push past a struggling DePaul club today.
