Marshall (19-7) at Tulane (7-18)

GAME NOTES: The Marshall Thundering Herd go for their fifth win in a row tonight, as they square off against the Tulane Green Wave in Conference USA play at Fogelman Arena.

The Herd have responded well from a five-game slide, as they have won each of their past four outings. Included in the run is a 64-58 besting of Tulsa on Wednesday that improved Marshall to 19-7 overall and 7-4 in conference play.

On the flip side. Tulane is currently stuck in a four-game rut following a 77-64 loss at Memphis on Wednesday. The Wave, which are just 2-10 within the conference, have now dropped the last 18 meeting against Memphis.

The all-time series between Marshall and Tulane is tied at 5-5 after the Herd posted an 89-79 victory in the first encounter of the season.

Marshall outscored Tulsa from beyond the arc, 15-3, and at the foul line, 21-11, as it captured a 64-58 victory earlier in the week. Hassan Whiteside led the charge with 17 points and nine boards, while Chris Lutz scored 15 points. Damier Pits added 13 points and five boards, and Tyler Wilkerson notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Wilkerson currently leads the team in scoring at 13.6 ppg and he also brings in 6.9 rpg. Whiteside, one of the top freshman around, tacks on 13.1 ppg, to go with team highs of 8.8 rpg and 5.2 blocks per game. Shaquille Johnson and Pitts round out the team's double-digit scorers with 10.4 and 10.3 ppg, respectively.

The Wave allowed Memphis to shoot 56.8 percent from the floor and that was too much to overcome in a 77-64 loss on Wednesday. Kendall Timmons guided the squad in the loss with 23 points and seven boards, while Asim McQueen posted 14 points and nine rebounds. Kevin Sims got involved as well, chipping in with 12 points. Kris Richard however, played just one minute as he continue to nurse an injured ankle. The team's leading scorer at 12.7 ppg, Richard had missed the two prior games with the injury. Sims ranks second on the club with 12.1 ppg, while Timmons is averaging a team-best 12.4 ppg in league play.

Marshall is clearly the better team here and its variety of weapons should help in downing Tulane tonight.
