Missouri (19-7) at Nebraska (13-13)

GAME NOTES: The Missouri Tigers invade the Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers in a Big 12 Conference battle.

Missouri has won three of its last four games to move to 19-7 overall and 7-4 in league action. The team moved to 15-1 at home with a thrilling 82-77 decision over Texas on Wednesday, and that quality victory is sure to impress the NCAA Tournament selection committee.

Sure, Nebraska has a decent 13-13 overall record, but that mark is completely overshadowed by a 1-10 ledger against Big 12 competition. The Cornhuskers have suffered five consecutive defeats, including a 91-87 setback at Kansas State on Wednesday. There is at least some reason for optimism tonight, however, as 11 of the 13 wins posted by the club this season have come at home.

The Tigers handled the Huskers in a 70-53 final in the first meeting this season, and Missouri now owns a 124-91 series lead over Nebraska.

Kim English is the leading scorer for Missouri this season, as he is posting 14.9 ppg. Laurence Bowers checks in with 10.7 ppg on 59 percent shooting from the field, and Marcus Denmon rounds out a trio of double-digit scorers with 10.5 ppg. The Tigers are posting 79.9 ppg while allowing 65.5 ppg to opponents on 40.1 percent field goal efficiency. In the thrilling win over Texas, Missouri earned a 24-10 advantage in points from the foul line and forced 18 turnovers, the two most obvious keys to victory. English scored 18 points in that game, using his quickness to get to the hoop. Michael Dixon netted 13 points off the bench, while Keith Ramsey finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Denmon had only two points and will attempt to bounce back strong today.

There is only one double-digit scorer on the Nebraska roster, and Ryan Anderson isn't going to scare anyone with his 10.7 ppg. The Cornhuskers are generating 66.0 ppg while allowing 63.6 ppg to opponents, but that positive differential is clearly a result of beating up on some weak non-conference opponents. On Wednesday against Kansas State, Nebraska scored nine straight points in a span of less than 30 seconds to tie the score at 87-87, but the Wildcats tallied the final four points of the tilt to claim the win. The Cornhuskers connected on a second-high 58.3 percent of their field goal attempts in that tilt, including 14 three-pointers, but that stellar effort simply wasn't enough. A 32-17 deficit in points from the foul line clearly hurt Nebraska.

Although Nebraska has the obvious advantage of playing at home, Missouri is the better of these two teams and will win the game.
