Morehead State (19-8) at Illinois State (18-8)

GAME NOTES: The Missouri Valley Conference will clash with the Ohio Valley Conference this evening at Redbird Arena when the Illinois State Redbirds host the Morehead State Eagles.

Morehead State, which is 13-3 in conference play, heads into this game fresh off a 77-64 decision over Eastern Kentucky. It was the 15th win in the last 17 matchups for the Eagles, who are a solid 7-6 on the road.

As for the Redbirds, they pushed their MVC ledger to 9-6 on the year with a 67-63 victory over Creighton. It was the third straight win for Illinois State, which is an impressive 12-2 at home this year.

The Redbirds grabbed a 76-70 victory over Morehead State last season and now own a 3-1 edge over the Eagles in the all-time series.

The Eagles soared in their recent win over Eastern Kentucky, as the team shot 45.6 percent from the field and also finished 10-of-22 from behind the arc. Maze Stallworth led the way with 20 points in the win, while Kenneth Faried added a double-double of 15 points and 16 rebounds. Steve Peterson also contributed 15 points, while Demonte Harper chipped in with 11 points and seven assists. Faried has been a double-double machine throughout the season and is currently pacing the team with 17.1 ppg and 13.5 rpg. Stallworth heads into this game with 13.0 ppg and 5.2 rpg, while Harper is contributing 12.3 ppg, to go along with 2.9 apg.

The Redbirds have relied on a trio of players, beginning with Osiris Eldridge, who is leading the team with 157 ppg. Dinma Odiakosa is contributing 12.4 ppg and is also pulling down 8.6 rpg, while Lloyd Phillips is posting 10.8 ppg, to go along with 111 assists. The last time the Redbirds were on the floor the team scored 76 points in a win over Missouri State. Illinois State shot 53.8 percent from the floor and was paced by Odiakosa, who poured in 30 points. Eldridge added 15 points, while Phillips tallied 12 points, to go along with six assists.

This has all the makings of a terrific matchup between two very tough teams. The Eagles have a dominating frontcourt, but the Redbirds are outstanding at home and should grab a hard-fought win.
