Western Carolina (19-9) at Kent State (19-8)

GAME NOTES: The Kent State Golden Flashes will step away from Mid-American Conference action to host the Southern Conference's Western Carolina Catamounts this evening in a BracketBuster meeting at the M.A.C. Center.

The Catamounts, who are currently 9-7 in SoCon play, are coming off a 73-56 setback to The Citadel. It was the fourth loss in the five games for Western Carolina, which is a mediocre 7-7 on the road this season.

Kent State, which is currently tied for the best record in the MAC with Akron at 10-3, comes into this matchup fresh off a 74-67 decision over Ohio. It was the ninth win in the last 10 games for Kent State.

This will be just the second-ever meeting on the hardwood between the two schools. The only other matchup was won by the Catamounts, as they defeated Kent State, 89-84, in an overtime showdown back in 2008.

The Catamounts were ice cold in their last matchup, as the team scored just 56 points in a loss to The Citadel. Western Carolina shot just 33.9 percent from the floor and finished 6-of-20 from behind the arc. Brigham Waginger was the only player in double figures for WCU, as the guard tallied 12 points. Despite the poor showing against the Citadel, the Catamounts are producing a respectable 75.0 ppg on the season. Brandon Giles is currently leading the team with 12.0 ppg, while Jake Robinson is also posting 12.0 ppg for Western Carolina.

The last time the Golden Flashes were on the floor the team shot just 36.7 percent, but used a 26-of-31 showing from the foul line to claim a victory over Western Carolina. Chris Singletary led the way with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Justin Greene also posted a double-double, finishing with 15 points and 11 boards. Anthony Simpson tallied 15 points as well in the win. Greene has been the most consistent player on the floor for KSU this season, as the forward is pacing the team with 13.3 ppg and 6.6 rpg. As for Singletary, he is contributing 11.8 ppg, to go along with 96 assists and 5.0 rpg.

The Golden Flashes have been solid at both ends of the floor, and should have no trouble with the Catamounts in this one.
