Wright State (18-9) at Ohio University (14-13)

GAME NOTES: The Wright State Raiders are getting hot at the right time, and they'll take on non-league foe Ohio University in a BracketBusters matchup this afternoon at the Convocation Center.

Wright State has won three straight and seven of its last eight games overall to move into second place in the Horizon League standings. The Raiders closed out the home portion of their schedule on Wednesday night by thumping Detroit, 70-53. Following today's tilt, they'll wrap up the regular season with road games at Youngstown State and Cleveland State next week.

As for Ohio, it has dropped two straight, both on the road. On Wednesday, the Bobcats were dealt a 74-67 loss at Kent State to fall to 14-13 overall and 5-8 in the Mid-American Conference. Three of their next four games will be played in Athens, leading up to the MAC Tournament.

Ohio University holds a 6-2 edge in the head-to-head series with Wright State.

After trailing by one at halftime on Wednesday night, Wright State owned the second half with a 37-19 advantage over Detroit. For the first time this season, all five starters scored in double figures, led by Todd Brown with 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting. N'Gai Evans added 16 points, while Cory Cooperwood, Ronnie Thomas and Vaughn Duggins scored 10 points apiece. The Raiders played sound basketball throughout, dishing out 16 assists and committing only five turnovers. The majority of Wright State's offensive sets filter through guards Todd Brown (13.2 ppg) and Vaughn Duggins (14.5 ppg). Combined, those two have accounted for nearly 40 percent of the team's field- goal attempts. While Duggins and Brown handle most of the work at the offensive end, the Raiders have performed well defensively in allowing just 60.2 ppg on 42.9 percent shooting from the floor, and they also boast a +4.4 rebounding margin.

Ohio was not able to pull out Wednesday's contest at Kent State despite another big performance from D.J. Cooper, who posted 23 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. A few days earlier, Cooper poured in a career-high 33 points in a double-overtime loss at Akron. Also in that game against the Zips, Reggie Keeley piled up 16 points and set a Rhodes Arena record with a career-best 20 rebounds, though he came off the bench on Wednesday night and finished with just two points and nine rebounds. Armon Bassett added 20 points in the setback, and the Bobcats shot just 36.7 percent as a team. Bassett leads the team on the season with his 15.0 ppg. Cooper is averaging 14.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest, while Tommy Freeman (10.3 ppg) is the top threat from outside, having connected on 62-of-136 (.456) three-pointers.

The reason the Raiders trailed at halftime of Wednesday's game was largely because they shot a mere 3-of-14 from beyond the arc in the opening stanza. Barring another performance like that, the Raiders should have the edge against an Ohio squad that tends to be inconsistent from one game to the next.
