Cal Poly (9-16) at Hawaii (9-16)

GAME NOTES: The Cal Poly Mustangs have traveled to Honolulu where they will tangle with the Hawaii Warriors in a BracketBusters event at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Representing the Big West Conference, the Mustangs have struggled in the last month with just one win in their last seven outings and in that 87-84 victory over UC Riverside last weekend, Cal Poly had to go to double-overtime to get the job done. The Mustangs have had a tough time on the road this season with just four wins in 16 opportunities. On Wednesday night, the Mustangs suffered a 73-68 setback to Cal State Northridge on the road.

As for the Warriors, a squad that enters the weekend tied for the last spot in the Western Athletic Conference standings at 2-10, they've logged just one win of their own since the first week of January. On Monday night, the squad was trounced by New Mexico State in Las Cruces, 88-64, keeping the Warriors winless on the road in seven tries in 2009-10. The defeat was also the seventh in a row and the ninth in 10 games for the group.

With respect to the all-time series between these two schools on the hardwood, the Warriors won the only previous meeting.

Lorenzo Keeler posted a game-high 23 points on Wednesday night, shooting 9- of-19 from the field but only 3-of-10 behind the three-point line, as the Mustangs dropped a five-point decision on the road to Cal State Northridge. Also scoring in double figures was Shawn Lewis with his 14 points, yet he made good on a mere 3-of-14 shots from the floor on the night as the team shot a collective 35.7 percent from the field. Keeler continues to be the leading scorer this season for the Mustangs with his 15.5 ppg, even though his 38.7 percent accuracy from the floor has been less than favorable. Shawn Lewis chips in 10.9 ppg, but he too has had some issues finding the mark from the field at just 37.5 percent for a team that is scoring just slightly less than 69 ppg right now.

Roderick Flemings recorded a double-double with his 25 points and 11 rebounds, adding three assists as he led the Warriors in all three department, but still Hawaii was crushed by New Mexico State at the Pan American Center earlier this week. Adhar Mayen added 11 points, but between he and Flemings they combined to shoot only 2-of-12 from three-point range, the team finishing 3-of-17 out on the perimeter. Brandon Adams contributed 10 points as well. Flemings, who now has five double-doubles this season and 10 for his career, has led the program in scoring in four of the last five outings and is now sporting 15.7 ppg and 6.4 rpg. However, for someone who handles the ball as much as he does, Flemings should be shooting better than 64.6 percent at the free-throw line. It also doesn't help that he is making just 22 percent of his three- point tries, the team checking in at a feeble 29.7 percent beyond the arc.

Hawaii has only won at home this season, but even now the possibility of that happening seems like a stretch given the team's current situation. Nevertheless, Cal Poly will have trouble adjusting to the travel and will provide the Warriors every chance to pull out the win in Honolulu.
