GAME NOTES: Southern Conference action ensues this evening when the Chattanooga Mocs play host to the Davidson Wildcats.
The Wildcats clawed their way to a 61-58 victory over Furman is their last matchup, giving them six wins in their last eight games. As a result, Davidson is a game over .500 on the year at 14-13, and 9-6 in conference. The Wildcats are 4-5 in true road games, and a poor 5-9 in all games played away from their home court when you factor in five neutral-site affairs.
As for the Mocs, they are in desperate need of a victory as they head into this matchup hoping to end a five-game skid. The last time Chattanooga was in action, it fell to 5-10 in SoCon action with a 60-54 setback to Samford. The Mocs are 13-15 on the year, but they have won twice as many games as they have lost on their home court (10-5).
Chattanooga own a 31-20 edge over Davidson in the all-time series, but the Wildcats have dominated the Mocs recently, winning the last eight meetings.
The Wildcats were not at their best in their last outing, but they did just enough to get by Furman in a three-point decision. Davidson shot a mediocre 42.6 percent from the floor and was led by Jake Cohen's 14-point effort. Will Archambault added 12 points, while JP Kuhlman finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Cohen has been the top player on the floor for Davidson throughout the season, as the forward is averaging 13.0 ppg to go with 4.9 rpg. Kuhlman contributes 12.5 ppg and has handed out 83 assists, while Archambault averages 11.1 ppg. As a team, the Wildcats are producing a rather vanilla 70.8 ppg on the season.
The Mocs were ice cold in their last contest, scoring just 54 points in a loss to Samford. Chattanooga shot 38.6 percent from the floor in the setback and finished a mere 8-of-28 from beyond the arc. Ricky Taylor was the only player to reach double figures for Chattanooga, as the guard posted 11 points. Ty Patterson finished with just six points on 2-of-11 shooting from the field. Despite the poor effort, Patterson continues to pace the team with 15.0 ppg. As for Taylor, he is the only other player averaging double figures on the season and comes into this matchup posting 11.0 ppg for Chattanooga, which as a whole is producing 69.0 ppg.
The Mocs have been in a terrible tailspin of late, but hopefully some home cooking will get the team back on track this evening. However, the task at hand will not be easy, as the Wildcats are a scrappy bunch.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
