GAME NOTES: Missouri Valley Conference action will take place this evening when the Southern Illinois Salukis host the Creighton Bluejays at SIU Arena.

The last time the Bluejays were on the floor the team stepped out of league action to grab a 78-58 victory over Loyola-Chicago. The win snapped a two-game slide for Creighton, which is a mediocre 8-8 in league play.

Over the weekend the Salukis also took part in BracketBusters action and walked away with an 89-72 victory over Western Michigan. It was the second win in the last three games for SIU, which is just 6-10 in MVC action.

Earlier this season the Bluejays grabbed a 71-69 victory over Southern Illinois. It was the fourth straight win for Creighton in the all-time series, giving the team a 46-36 edge over the Salukis.

The last time the Bluejays were in action the team scored 78 points in a victory over Loyola-Chicago. Creighton shot 48.3 percent from the field in the matchup and was led by Kenny Lawson Jr. who scored a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Cavel Witter added 12 points, while Justin Carter posted eight points and nine rebounds. Lawson Jr. is the only player netting double figures for Creighton, as the big man is averaging 12.8 ppg, to go along with a team-high 6.5 rpg. As a whole, the Bluejays head into this matchup netting 68.7 ppg, behind a mediocre 43.5 percent shooting effort.

The Salukis were red-hot in their recent victory over Western Michigan, as Southern Illinois shot a staggering 61.7 percent from the floor and also made 25-of-30 attempts from the foul line. Carlton Fay exploded for 38 points in the win, while Kevin Dillard tallied 17 points and six assists. Dillard has been the best player on the floor for SIU, as the guard is netting 13.0 ppg, to go along with 143 assists. Tony Freeman is contributing 12.2 ppg, while Fay comes into this matchup with 11.7 ppg. On the season, Southern Illinois is producing a mediocre 70.7 ppg, behind a respectable 46.1 percent shooting effort.

Both teams are coming off impressive wins, but the Salukis are home for this matchup and should have no problem getting past Creighton.
