Rutgers (14-13) at Seton Hall (15-10)

GAME NOTES: Two teams trying to find their way back into the win column do battle at the Prudential Center tonight, as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights tussle with the Seton Hall Pirates in a Big East affair.

The Knights are coming off their first home loss in a month, as they were downed, 76-58, by Connecticut on Saturday. The loss put an end to a three-game winning streak and dropped the club to 14-13 overall and 4-10 within the conference. Rutgers now takes back to the road, where it has won just once in eight opportunities.

The Pirates also enter the contest hoping to rebound from a loss, falling 75-63 at nationally-ranked West Virginia on Saturday. The outcome broke a three-game winning streak, as SHU dipped to 15-10 overall and 6-8 within the conference. On a positive note, SHU is now back at home, where it has won five straight decisions.

SHU leads the all-time series with Rutgers, 31-24, and the Pirates swept both meetings from the Knights last season.

The Knights shot a dismal 35.0 percent from the floor, including a poor 6- of-21 showing from downtown, as they were handled by UConn over the weekend. Rutgers also had issues converting its free points, going just 10-of-20 at the foul line. Mike Rosario guided the squad in the loss with 14 points and three steals, while Hamady Ndiaye turned in 13 points, seven boards and five blocks. For the season, Rosario averages a team-high 16.1 ppg for Rutgers, although he is shooting only 37.6 percent from the floor. Jonathan Mitchell, a 37.8 percent three-point shooter, is the only other player on the roster scoring in double figures, with 11.6 ppg.

SHU coughed up the ball 16 times and was outscored at the charity stripe, 27-12, as it suffered a 75-63 loss at WVU over the weekend. The Pirates also lost the battle on the boards, 41-36, including 21-14 at the offensive end. Jeff Robinson tallied 16 points to pace SHU, while Jeremy Hazell was limited to just nine points on 2-of-10 field goals. It was a disappointing effort from Hazell, who ranks among the top scorers in the Big East with an average of 21.5 ppg. Herb Pope turns in a double-double of 11.2 ppg and a team-high 11.0 rpg for the Pirates, meanwhile, Robinson contributes 10.8 ppg and 5.6 rpg.

The Pirates have played well at home and should continue that trend tonight against the Knights.
