Auburn (13-14) at Ole Miss (17-9)

GAME NOTES: The Auburn Tigers and the Ole Miss Rebels are set to do battle in an SEC contest this evening from Tad Smith Coliseum in Oxford.

Auburn has not been able to put back-to-back wins together since the first week of January. The Tigers will have a chance to do so this evening, as they halted a two-game slide with a 92-83 decision over Arkansas on Saturday. They are now 13-14 overall, including 4-8 in league play, and they are 2-7 in true road games.

As for Ole Miss, it has lost its last three games and five of the last six to fall to 17-9 overall and 5-7 in conference, seemingly crushing its NCAA Tournament hopes. On Saturday, the Rebels simply didn't get the job done at the offensive end in a 64-61 loss to Florida. Sure, the club is 10-4 at home this season, but three of the last four outings in Oxford have ended in defeat.

Ole Miss beat Auburn by an 84-74 final last month, but the Tigers still own a 71-48 series advantage.

DeWayne Reed paces four double-digit scorers for Auburn with 16.0 ppg, but his 39.4 percent shooting from the floor could certainly stand some improvement. It is also worth mentioning that Reed leads the team by a wide margin with his 118 assists. Tay Waller provides 14.2 ppg, and Lucas Hargrove posts 13.5 ppg and 7.3 rpg. Rounding out the foursome is Frankie Sullivan with 12.9 ppg. Auburn is generating 76.1 ppg while allowing 74.0 ppg to opponents. In the nine-point victory over Arkansas, Waller exploded for 29 points on the strength of a 7-of-10 effort from three-point range. Reed scored 17 points for the Tigers, who shot a staggering 60.9 percent from the floor and also earned a 25-11 edge in points from the foul line.

Ole Miss was outscored 25-9 from the foul line by Florida on Saturday, the most obvious contributing factor in the narrow loss. The Rebels played tremendous defense in that affair, limiting the Gators to 36.5 percent shooting from the field, including 1-of-13 from three-point range. That showing simply wasn't enough, however, as 15 turnovers hurt the cause. Terrance Henry scored 17 points off the bench for Ole Miss, which also got 14 points from Chris Warren. Overall this season, Warren lead the squad with 16.4 ppg. Terrico White is generating 14.5 ppg, while Eniel Polynice provides 10.5 ppg to go along with 113 assists. Ole Miss is posting 78.8 ppg while holding opponents to 70.2 ppg, but the club is only outscoring SEC foes by 0.1 ppg.

Expect the home team to win tonight by a narrow margin, as another loss in Oxford seems unlikely. Warren will make the big plays for the Rebels down the stretch.
