GAME NOTES: The Missouri Tigers welcome the Colorado Buffaloes to Columbia for tonight's Big 12 affair at Mizzou Arena.
The Tigers continued to roll over the weekend, posting a 74-59 victory at Nebraska. It marked the second straight win and the fourth in five games for Missouri, which improved to 20-7 overall and 8-4 within the conference. The Tigers now return back home, where they have gone a near perfect 15-1 thus far.
For the Buffs, they are coming off an expected loss at top-ranked Kansas, falling 94-74 on Saturday. The loss was the fifth in six outings, as Colorado dipped to 12-14 overall and 3-9 within the conference. On the road is where the Buffs have really struggled, going just 1-9, including 0-6 in league play. As a matter of fact, Colorado has now fallen in 27 straight road games against Division I opponents dating back to a win at Colorado State in 2007.
In terms of the all-time series, Missouri holds a 97-52 lead over Colorado, including an 84-66 triumph earlier this month.
The Buffs coughed up the ball 19 times and were dominated on the glass, 40-25, two of several reasons why they lost at Kansas this past weekend. Colorado also offered little resistance on defense, allowing Kansas to make 54.7 percent of its attempts from the floor. Alec Burks guided the team in defeat with 17 points and seven boards, while Marcus Relphorde and Cory Higgins checked in with 16 and 13 points, respectively. Higgins leads Colorado on the season at 17.9 ppg and he also has a team-high 50 steals to his credit. Burks is second in order with 16.8 ppg, while Relphorde puts forth 10.7 ppg to round out the double-digit scorers.
The Tigers shot 45.5 percent from the floor, including an efficient 11-of-19 from beyond the arc, as they defeated Nebraska over the weekend. Missouri also forced 17 turnovers, in addition to holding a 35-27 advantage on the boards. Marcus Denmon scored a career-high 24 points to lead the charge, while Zaire Taylor posted 18 points and eight boards. Kim English didn't have his best game with only eight points, but he still remains the team's leading scorer with an average of 14.6 ppg. Denmon, a 44.6 percent three-point shooter, follows with 11.0 ppg and Laurence Bowers tacks on 10.7 and 5.7 rpg.
The Tigers are simply the better team all-around and should be able to wear down the Buffs with their pressure style of attack.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
