Drake (13-16) at Missouri State (18-10)

GAME NOTES: The Missouri State Bears will try to remain in the win column this evening when they host the Drake Bulldogs in Missouri Valley Conference action at the JQH Arena.

The Bulldogs are coming off a thrilling, 90-80 victory over Cal State Northridge on Saturday in BracketBusters action. It was the second win in a row for Drake, which will try to improve on its 7-9 ledger in MVC action.

The last time the Bears were on the floor the team collected a 62-60 win over Nevada. It was the third win in the last five games for Missouri State, which is also 7-9 in league play.

The Bears own a commanding, 30-10 edge over Drake in the all-time series and that includes a 17-1 mark against the Bulldogs in Springfield.

The last time the Bulldogs were on the floor the team exploded offensively, scoring 90 points in a win over Cal State Northridge. Drake shot a sizzling 52.9 percent from the floor and also finished 12-of-23 from behind the arc, and 24-of-28 from the foul line. Josh Young led the way with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Adam Templeton tallied 16 points, to go along with seven boards. Seth VanDeest posted 13 points, while Ryan Wedel and Ben Simons contributed 10 points apiece. Young has been the best player on the floor for Drake, as the guard is leading the team 14.4 ppg and 2.8 apg. Wedel is posting 11.4 ppg, while Templeton is contributing 10.2 ppg, to go along with 7.2 rpg.

The Bears have been decent at the offensive end of the floor as the team is netting 71.8 ppg, behind a respectable 45.1 percent shooting effort. Kyle Weems is leading the team with 13.9 ppg and 5.8 rpg. Adam Leonard is contributing 12.5 ppg, while Jermaine Mallett is helping out with 11.0 ppg, to go along with 5.7 rpg. The last time Missouri State was in action the team only scored 62 points, but that was enough for the team to slip past Nevada. The Bears shot a pedestrian 40.3 percent from the floor and were paced by Weems, who finished with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Will Creekmore and Leonard chipped in with 11 points apiece.

The Bears have dominated Drake in Springfield and should continue to do so this evening. It will likely be a close matchup, but look for the Bears to earn the win in this one.
