Virginia Tech (21-5) at Boston College (13-13)

GAME NOTES: The Virginia Tech Hokies will try to bounce back from their first loss in several weeks, as they tussle with the Boston College Eagles in ACC play at the Conte Forum.

The Hokies could have made a serious move for the ACC title on Sunday, but instead suffered a 67-55 loss at nationally-ranked Duke. The defeat snapped a five-game winning streak by Tech, which now trails Duke by two games in the loss column at 8-4. Still, the Hokies are a healthy 21-5 overall and barring a major collapse, should be a solid choice for the NCAA Tournament.

As for BC, it put an end to its losing ways with a 71-67 besting of North Carolina on Saturday. The win put a stop to a four-game slide and pushed the Eagles to a level 13-13 overall and 4-8 within the conference.

The Eagles lead the head-to-head series with Tech, 10-7, but the Hokies captured a narrow 63-62 win in the first meeting of the season.

The Hokies shot a miserable 32.8 percent from the floor, including just 2- of-15 from long range, as they were defeated by Duke over the weekend. The battle on the boards also went to Duke, which held a 47-38 advantage, including a 23-15 edge at the offensive end. Malcolm Delaney tallied 19 points and four assists in the loss, while Dorenzo Hudson chipped in with 12 points. On the season, Delaney leads Tech and the entire ACC in scoring at 20.2 ppg and he is also dishing out a team-high 4.0 apg. Hudson is another solid option at 14.0 ppg, while Jeff Allen adds 11.3 ppg and a team-high 7.0 rpg to the mix.

The Eagles hit on 40.3 percent of their attempts from the floor and 6-of-17 from long distance, as they edged UNC over the weekend. BC was also solid on defense, limiting UNC to just 39.1 percent shooting from the field, including only 1-of-8 from three-point land. Reggie Jackson led the charge with 17 points and seven assists, while Corey Raji and Rakim Sanders finished with 16 and 14 points, respectively. Joe Trapani tacked on eight points and nine rebounds and he leads the team in both departments for the season, averaging 14.2 ppg and 6.6 rpg. Jackson, a jack of all trades, adds 13.5 ppg to go with 5.7 rpg and 4.1 apg. Raji pitches in with 11.5 ppg and 6.3 rpg and Sanders rounds out the double-digit scorers with 11.2 ppg.

The Hokies have clearly been the more successful team this season and Delaney should help them rebound for a road win tonight.
